Hayden's POV
I was playing basketball with my friends in the gymnasium, when two guys walked up to me. Wait those are Kat's brother and his friend Ethan. They walked up to me and asked if they could play. I told them yes because they are way bigger than me and kinda scary. Then all of a sudden a basketball flew and him my face, I tasted blood so I touched my mouth and looked at my hand there was blood. I could hear faint laughing, when another ball hit me in the face and the next thing I know I'm on the ground and I'm slowly fading into darkness, when the ambulance arrives, I am still slightly conscious when I hear my name being said, it was a girl with a familiar voice, when I remember her name. Lola. Then I slide into complete darkness. I can still hear everyone though Lola was freaking out and she pretended to be family so she could ride with me. That's so cute. She grabbed my hand and said, "Hayden I'm here, I don't know if you can hear me but please don't let go I need you!" I squeezed her hand a little to try and tell her I'm ok. "Hayden." She whispered. " you can hear me?" She giggled in relief. We arrived at the hospital and she was told to wait in the waiting room. They wheeled me into surgery and gave me some medicine and I slip into darkness yet again.
Lola's POV
I've been waiting for almost 2 hours why did he even need surgery he got hit with a basketball what is the need for surgery? The doctor walks over to me, " ma'am we have some news, he will be ok but he is still under watch for the next 24 hours but you may see him now." I flew past him and found his room he looked lifeless when all the memories started flowing, all the times he was there for me, the times we had talked for hours on end, the times we had hugged. I needed him to be ok, he was my only friend here, and I think I love him. I walk in and grab his hand, and he squeezed it. I immediately start crying in relief. " Hayden I need you to survive this, the doctors said it's your choice they did everything they could you can't let a basketball end you Hayden. You are the strongest person I know and-." I was cut off by Hayden waking up. "Lola I'm not about to let some losers with a basketball end me, don't you know me better then that?" He said with a smile. "But why did you pretend to be my family just to ride with me?" I couldn't tell him I loved him so I lied. "So kat wouldn't." I said as I was looking down at his hand intertwined with mine. "Ok well-." He fell asleep. I said goodnight and gave him a kiss on the cheek. I walked out of the room and went back home. My parents didn't even notice I was gone what a surprise they were sleeping already. I went to my room when I walked in my big brother Alex was on my bed. "Where were you?" He said sounding angry. "Were you with a boy?" He is so impossible. " No well yes but it was a friend he was in the hospital someone beat him up with a basketball and he almost died Alex!" I practically screamed as tears started rolling down my face. He got up and walked over to me grabbing my face and putting it to his chest. " I'm sure he'll be ok." I fell asleep with the comfort of my brother beside me.
