"This is detective Moore, talk" I groaned into my cellphone as I check the clock standing on my bedside table.
3 fucking a.m, I thought as I rubbed my eyes.
"Alison its me, we need you" my partner Brent Saunders replied calmly.
I sighed as I realized what happened, they found him.
"Where?" I whispered, now wide awake. "I'll pick you up, see you in 10" he responded and ended the call.
My mind was racing as I sprung out of bed to get dressed.
"they finally found him" I said softly,
my words lingering in the air,
"I can't believe it" I added as I tied my wavy curls into a messy bun.
I hurried out of my one bedroom apartment towards the stairs, taking two at a time, I had to hurry, If everything works out tonight we'd have the most wanted serial killer in Seattle behind bars.I pushed past the two glass doors at the enterance of my building, the cold wind cutting through my jacket, I shivered and held myself as I waited for Brent,
this feels so unreal, its really happening, I thought to myself just as Brent's black ford torino pulled up in front of me.
"so this is really happening" I said as I got in, "you bet" he replied, speeding down the street, "where is it going down?" I asked as I fastened my seatbelt.
As much as I loved my partner, his driving almost always scared the hell out of me,
"Beacon Hill" he said, "Chief's already there and backup will follow shortly" he added.
He sounded off tonight, but deep down I knew exactly why, we have been following this guy for nearly a year, tracking his every move, every phone call, every stop.
We tracked down all of his friends and family, even people who could only remotely recognize him and interrogated the shit out of them, this whole year was leading up to this one moment, when we finally caught the green river murderer.Tonight we'll finally uncover everything.
A wave of suspense and fright waved over me as we neared a black SUV, "this is it" Brent said as we both got out.
"Chief" I said to my superior officer as we got closer, he was leaning against the hood of the black SUV, smoking a cigarrete. I quickly joined him and lit my own, the velvety taste of nicotine soothing my craving, "where is he" I asked, "over there" chief Babineaux said as he pointed towards a dimly lit motel, we had a clear view from where we were standing.I pensively scanned the area, noticing the truck that led us here, one of our officers called in the licence plate that matched the APB we set out only hours ago,
"this fucker is going down tonight" I heard Brent say next to me, he was busy smoking a cigarette, "he won't get away again" he added,
I sighed as I thought of the three other times we almost arrested him, each time he was one step ahead of us, slipping away before we could catch him.
Moments later the backup team arrived, meaning we could get started.
"Listen up" I heard chief say, everyone moved closer, "after months of planning we finally made it, so listen carefully, I don't want anyone fucking this up" he added.
Chief Babineaux carefully went over the plan, "detective Saunders will lead team A to the back of the building where you will stand gaurd in case he tries to slip out at the back." he said, "Copy that" Brent replied,
"team B, you'll follow me and detective Moore to the front where we'll surprise this son of a bitch with a little knock on his door" chief added, we all nodded in agreeance, "everyone stay on gaurd, we can't afford to let this weasel slip through our fingers again" he said and glanced at me,
"we got informed that he's hiding out in room 13, get your weapons ready, we're moving out at 5" he concluded and walked over to me,
"I want you to make the arrest tonight" he said to me, I swallowed and glanced at my weapon, "thanks Chief" I replied, "it would be my honor".It was now 5 a.m and we were ready to move. Brent and his team made their way to the back of the motel, signalling us the moment they reached their checkpoint,
"Lets go" I said, we made our way down the hill and jogged across the small parking lot untill we reached a double staircase,
"Chief, take 3 men and go right, me and the other 3 will go left" I whispered, he nodded and signalled 3 men to follow him, I did the same.
