Briarrose ran through the city, her muscles pumping. A white she-cat, Moonsky, ran to her left and a pale yellow she-cat, Frostedgaze ran ahead. They were following a trail of blood and scent. The alley ended in a high wall. The two she cats jumped and crawled up. Briarrose followed.
"Look." Said Moonsky. "Look in that dumpster."
A dark tabby with a white blaze exited. He looked nervous. He saw them and hissed.
"Briarrose," whispered Frostedgaze. "You go, your good with cats." Briarrose gulped. She leaped. As soon as she hit the ground, she let out a painful wail as her shoulder erupted in pain. She stumbled up, looking at the dark tabby tom. She gave him a pleading look.
"Look, I don't know who you are or what you are. But scram." He growled. Moonsky and Frostedgaze jumped down from a high tree, not directly from the wall. The tabby growled and arched his back. Frostedgaze stood in front of her clan mates while Moonsky gave Briarrose her shoulder to lean on.
"Leave BloodClans territory," hissed Frostedgaze. "Or else..."
The tom fave them a curious look. "Um, sis, were these the Clan Cats you had a dream about?" He called into the trash can. A beautiful calico she-cat emerged from it. She had a wound on her side and blood was dripping from the corner of her mouth.
"Briarrose?" She asked, before collapsing. Briarrose rushed over too her as the tom crouched by her side.
"Stay with me!" Said Briarrose, the calico nodded weakly. Briarrose turned to Moonsky,"Go get Bloodlilly! Hurry!" The white she-cat ran off into the alley. "Frostedgaze! Get me cobwebs! And quick!" Frostedgaze dashed to the back of the can. Briarrose grabbed a clump of moss bedding and applied pressure to the wound.
"Sir, what's your name?" She asked.
"Stripe, her name is Dove."
"What happened?"
"We were attacked by a dog. I managed to get her away." He looked at the floor. "But I wasn't fast enough." Briarrose sighed.
"Don't worry, our Medicine cat is well trained. She would even ask starclan to spare Dove's life if she had to." Said Briarrose. Frostedgaze returned with a wad of cobwebs on her paw. Briarrose peeled off the cobwebs and applied them to Dove's wound. Stripe was sitting nervously by her side.
"Will she be alright?" He said, his voice shaking. "I lost our mother, I can't loose her too!"
A padding of paws interrupted her. Bloodlilly and Brickpelt appeared. Bloodlilly had burdock root and tansy in her mouth. She also carried juniper berries. Brickpelt had lots of cobwebs stuck to his long fur, and carried willow, coriander and lots of moss and ferns.
Bloodlilly laid down her bundle and put a gentle paw on Doves chin.
"Dove." She said "Dove, my name is Bloodlilly and I am a healer. You are fine. Don't worry." She gingerly pulled off Briarroses messy dressing. Stripe panicked at her sharp intake of breath.
"What!?" He said. "Is there something bad? Is it really infected? Is she going to die?!" He shrieked.
"Stripe," said Bloodlilly firmly "You are only making Dove worried. Go inside."
"But-"
"Go!"
He walked in with his tail drooping. His ears were flag against his skull. His eyes were downcast. Bloodlilly sighed.
"Briarrose!" She said. "Clean her wound for me please; Brickpelt, start chewing the tansy." She gently took a blue berry and laid it in front of Dove. "Eat this, it will make breathing easier." Dove obediently chewed the berry. Bloodlilly chewed furiously at the burdock root. Once Briarrose gave her the all clear, she spat it onto the wound, Brickpelt spat out the tansy. Briarrose watched as the medicine cat skillfully mixed the poultices together with her paws, evenly spreading the goo throughout the wound. Doves breathing became labored and she was given two juniper berries and three poppy seeds. She soon fell asleep.
Next, Bloodlilly placed three ferns over the poultice, then put on more tansy-leaves this time. after that she covered the whole thing in cobwebs, sealing the edges carefully. She called to Stripe, who looked over his sister.
"Why is she sleeping?!" He said, panicky evidenced in his voice "Won't she just die!?"
"Hush," the medicine cat said. "I gave her juniper berries to help her breathing and poppy seeds to help the pain and make her sleep. She is alright." Bloodlilly looked at the dustbin. "Do you have anything we could use to carry her in, like a sling?" He nodded. He disapeared into the dustbin and came out with what looked like a bird nest make out of what looked like soft, black mouse fur.
"It's what she sleeps in." He explained. "Humans put it on thier heads, its actually very warm." He admitted.
Bloodlilly gently lifted the sleeping she-cat and, with the help of Frostedgaze and Brickpelt, lifted Dove into the nest. She then ordered each warrior, except Briarrose and herself, to grab a bit and lift. Brickpelt led the way. Bloodlilly let Briarrose lean on her shoulder. They began to lag behind but neither were worried, as the scent as wafting towards them.
"You've wrenched your shoulder, haven't you?" Said Bloodlilly. "You'll have to spend at least three-quarters of a moon in my den."
Briarrose sighed. That meant she might just miss the gathering.
