Briarrose awoke at sunrise. She looked around. This was not the Warriors den. Then it all came back. She lay down again, sighing softly as a single tear ran down her cheek. Her eyes closed as the pain returned. Whitestorm, sweet Whitestorm. Her best friend and Mentor. It was no secret she liked him, everyone in thunderclan knew. Most said it was good that he found someone finally. But now he was gone.
Gone. Forever.
Her shoulders convulsed and she began sobbing again. She stayed in her nest all day, not caring to eat or drink. She just lay there and moped. She was in pit of dispair. Minkfur came to visit her, they cried together as Minkfur knew of Briarrose's attachment to Whitestorm. After Minkfur left, Briarrose sat and watched the sunset. Then fell into a troubled sleep. She dreamed of Whitestorm.
They were in a clearing. By the training hollow. He was teaching her how to do the grab-and-twist, a move which included grabbing the opponent by the shoulders and flinging them away by twisting around with force. It was used if you were fighting 2-on-1.
Whitestorm demonstrated on Cloudtail, flinging the white tom halfway across the clearing. Cloudtail sat up and hurrumped that he 'would not get flung around like a rag doll for some apprentices entertainment' for his free days, then stomped off. Whitestorm had chuckled, he had chuckled his amazing chuckle. Oh, what wouldn't she give to hear it one more time. She had asked to try it on him. She couldn't fling him. At all.
"Briarpaw, you need to slingshot yourself, so you fling your opponent." He had said. This time, she tried it on Fernpaw and sure enough, she flung the grey apprentice at least a fox-length.
"Was that better?" Briarrose had asked.
Whitestorm had smiled and said, "Yes, Briarpaw. It was."

"You need to eat, Briarrose." Said Bloodlilly. In response, the brindle she-cat mearly took a half-hearted gulp of the mouse they were sharing. It had been three days since the gathering, Scourge had seemingly disappeared after he ushered her into his den. Bloodlilly would not say where or why he whent, but assured the clan he would be back within a few sunrises.
"Listen, I know you're sad." Said the Medicine cat. "But being depressed won't bring him back!"
"I just wish Scourge had told me." Said Briarrose. That was enough for Bloodlilly.
"Tell you what, huh?" She hissed. "Told you he was a cold blooded killer? Told you so you would hate him? Told you he tried to take over the forest? Told you he saved you from that badger-hearted old fool Fire-" the medicine cat shut her mouth.
"What?!" Asked Briarrose. "He-saved me?" Bloodlilly looked at her sternly.
"Briarrose, he loves you." Bloodlilly said. "Ask him about it. The ice melted."
And that was all she was willing to say on the matter.
