Chapter-I

At the dawn of the 24th century man is no longer confined to the sanctum of earth’s domain.

Through development of technology he has gained enough power to establish colonies elsewhere in space though Earth still remains his home planet. A few years into his conquest for universal dominance, man stumbled upon a discovery, a key lost in space, a door - a narrow pathway that had emerged due to tearing up of a fiber in the fabric of the universe. He called this " The Stargate."

The Stargate was an opening in space, a bridge between our galaxy and the Quartan system. The Quartan system unlike ours had two suns and only five planets all massively populated with mostly underdeveloped alien races.

His forces alone could not achieve his vision of a universal empire. Hence, he formed an alliance with other races from the galactic system lending his technology so that their alliance could together give rise to weapons they both had never seen or imagined before. He called this alliance, " The Confederation."

Man's forced occupation of the planets was not a path without hurdles, he faced a lot of resistance and millions of lives were laid to waste.

Tired of their resistance The Confederation gathered all it's might and fought their more stronger opponent , "The Alpine Empire." A prehistoric empire that had ruled the quartan system as a whole for ages formed from a culmination of all the races that despised human interference in their galaxy.

Man through a lot of tactics and deceitful ways had defeated the primitive but larger Alpine empire. Humiliated by their defeat the Alpine empire receded back to it's previously established borders and stayed there giving mankind his peace.

But peace always came at the price of fear, fear that the opponent was developing at a pace much faster than before and would lash out with a fury like none other. Hence, in their borders both empires grew.

 Apart from the struggle for universal domination between the empires, man also discovered a defect in his galactic quest a few decades into colonization.

The Stargate though an amazing discovery had a certain flaw, every ship that passed through gave away large amounts of energy every time it passed.  This passing though was beneficial for a while but was still too large an energy requirement to handle after few trips.

The confederation in desperate attempts to fuel their outer space endeavours sort multiple ways to ail this method but it was all in vain.

 To develop the technology that could withstand the energy barrier, science corporations sprung up all across both the empires. Either side wanting to cross the Stargate seamlessly to colonize.

 There was stiff competition on both sides as to who would reach the final destination which ultimately was the universal empire.

 Hence, seeing the importance of the goals, the empires started promoting their  scientific innovations, scientists were hugely rewarded for their inventions and motivated to do more.  But with time the governments started growing impatient for results and failures were treated mercilessly, scientists often were murdered or publicly executed. But even the fears couldn’t lead straight to the goal.

When all hope was lost, there was news of a meteorite crash on a planet just out of confederation territory called  Planet Zymen- a planet having mixed colonies of the alpine empire and a few forward military stations of the confederation.

The contents of the meteorite supposedly carried materials that could the end the war with one side claiming undisputable victory.

The meteorite was of unknown origin and on doing preliminary tests it was found to be of a metal unknown to the periodic  table. A metal that had high molecular stability and if used in correct proportions in atomic reactions could generate energy ten times that of a fusion nuclear reactor but was too less to harvest from the preliminary tests.

 After the report was published both empires sought to gain it by means of diplomacy but no side was foolish enough to let it go.

This put both the empires into a frenzy. And Zymen was torn apart by the repeated failures between the empires to get the contents of this meteorite  into their possessions. But after the failure of operation Cloud by the confederation, the contents fell completely into the hands of the Alpine Empire.

And with time to protect it, Zymen was turned into a militarized high tech fortress to prevent it from falling into the possession of the Confederation.
