Chapter 9

Mark looked to his left and saw the complexity of the situation. All the hostages were wearing a bomb vest and the trigger was held by one of the soldier who was pointing his gun towards the unwanted messiah's that had stormed through the door.

The soldiers were all dressed in Navy blue jumper suits with diagonal black stripes running from top to bottom. They had plasma vests strapped to their chests.

Experiments had seen that depending on the amount of current being passed through the plasma it changed its permeability hence a soldier holding a battery pack could protect himself from a wave of fire.

Anyhow which still sparked the question in Mark's mind was that how did they get the idea and technology to put it into use when actually it was in test phases for military applications by the most advanced minds on the confederation sides.

But that wasn't the problem he was facing, the problem he was facing was that the soldier was gripping a pressure trigger with active sound capabilities, which in simple terms meant if he either shouted the words to activate the bomb vests or removed his finger from the button on the trigger, they all surely were going to be barbequed and seeing the amount of explosives on the hostages he couldn't for a second doubt of it's legitimacy.

Mark turned his head toward Kabir and gave him the look that signified only one thing “ if you screw this up we are all dead.!!!”

The guards were demanding them to strip their weapons off otherwise they would kill the hostages.

And if history had ever proven of the hate the alpine troops had towards the Confederation citizens then they knew for sure that the alpine soldiers were not going to hesitate a little bit to blow up the hostages even if that meant losing there only leverage.

it is said the great battle of riversand was fought on Toshokan, the battle that decided the fate of the universe. The battle that had allowed the confederation to progress into the quartan system. After the alpine emperor - Marlem was killed, the scattered remnants of the alpine administration in a desperate attempt to survive the war and keep the empire of their ancestors. Signed a peace treaty with the confederation and receded back into Zoran, Clomanof and Zymen the three remaining planets of the quartan galaxy. Giving the humans dominion over the planets of Quaran and Toshokan.

The withdrawal procedure took months, the races that surrendered were accepted with not so much happiness. Only the higher echelon of the fleeing races were given protection, none others were spared. There were countless rapes, honour killings and various inhuman crimes.

Streets were painted in different colours of blood  for ages to come. The alpine troops swore to avenge the ones they lost and never did they forget what they have lost.

Mark had through his intercom had secretly coordinated with Kylie who happened to be on a watchtower which provided her a clear view through a window from the warehouse. It was to Mark's right and in her scope were the heads of a few of the soldiers giving her a clear line of sight.

Kylie's weapon was fitted in with shells that could penetrate hard surfaces like cement walls or few inches of steel. Her infrared scope gave her the additional advantage of pinpointing multiple targets and allowing her to store their location in her database so that when she fired, the six barrels of the gun would fire simultaneously depending on the coordinates that had been registered of the targets.

So,  Mark planned to bend down to place his machine gun with phraser magazines on the ground but in the meantime h would remove the pistol in his boots and shoot one of them down while Kylie and Kabir could take out the others. But things didn’t go as planned.
