Chapter 2:

I woke up groggy, though I slept like a baby...well not literally but you know the saying. I sat up and looked down at the coffin-I would never get used to that-, wondering if Ebony was awake yet. I got up, stretched, grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom. I took a shower, letting the hot water relax each of my muscles individually, until it ran cold. There was thumping coming through the door.

“Yeah?”

“Hurry up! You take forever” Ebony moaned and I muffled a laugh.

“I’ll be out in a minute” I replied and got dressed. I had decided to go with the casual but badass look with a blue strap top with curls hugging the edges, a pair of dark blue jeggings and some black and white converses; I grabbed a zip up jacket to go with it. I pulled my brunette hair back in a simple ponytail and applied foundation and some mascara then brushed my teeth. Making my way out I snatched my bag from the corner and left.

I giggled as I heard Ebony’s screeches and cursing about the hot water running out and turned to see Sasha waiting outside my room.

She chuckled “You two sound like you’re playing in an episode of Tom and Jerry”

“As long I’m the Jerry, then that’s fine with me”

“So, why haven’t I seen everything yet?” she asked, eying me suspiciously as we made our way downstairs and across to the campus.

“You’ll find out soon enough” and this was the dumbest moment I’ve had all morning and it was only 9 ‘o’clock. You know when you get that awkward moment when you try pulling a door open when it says push and it comes back and smacks you in the face. Yeah, well that happened.

I grabbed my throbbing head and rubbed it, wincing as I did. I turned and glared at Sasha who was grabbing her sides and laughing so hard that nothing came out and looked like a retarded seal clapping her hands in the middle of the school reception...

She gave me a serious look, “There’s a door there”

When she calmed down, we headed over to the women behind the shielded desk.

“How can I help you ladies?” she asked, giving a smile that showed her pearly whites.

“I’m Taylor Atkinson, I transferred from Camden High”

Her face lit up like a Christmas tree being switched on and clicked something on her computer “Ah yes dear, you’re first class is in a few minutes” she picked up a piece of paper and handed it over “early placement, that’s impressive dear”

I gave her my winning grin “Thank you Mam”

Looking at the piece of paper I felt as though someone had been sick in my face then kicked me in the gut....English Literature, Biology, Physical Education and psychology and I had English right about now.

Sasha squealed and grabbed me in a bear hug “You’re in all my classes’ nerd!”

I huffed at the nickname and sighed before she carried on.

“Let’s go Mr Barnes hates it when students are late!” she informed, then grabbed my arm and started tugging me along with her. We power walked across the school campus, Sasha nearly tearing my arm out its socket. If you looked at our faces you would have probably thought we were returning at item to Debenhams.

Walking into the corridors I suddenly felt nervous almost as if I didn’t belong here, we stopped at a door labelled E011 and I gulped. Sasha opened the door and walked in, tugging me along with her, feeling eyes on me as me cheeks burned rosy red. She towed me to the teacher, or as she called him Mr Barnes who looked up “Ah, you must be Taylor, Yes?”
