Year: 1938; Age: 15

Beca Di Angelo laughed as her sister tripped over her own feet. Her father sat behind them, talking to their mother urgently. She listened in.

"Maria, we can't let the kids roam free like this. The prophecy would be fulfilled too early." her father muttered, stress lacing his words.

"I can't just give them up. You know this." her mother countered.

"At least send them to the casino. Time doesn't move the same way there. They wouldn't age like the world around them. They wouldn't have to be harmed and the prophecy wouldn't be fulfilled."

"Hades, you know that I couldn't do that to them. they're already fifteen, for Pan's sake."

"But they wouldn't die a needless death that my brother would give them." Hades snapped. She froze as she heard thunder rumble. Her father cursed and gathered Nico, Bianca, and Beca to him.

"Maria," he called upstairs, "please hurry!"

Beca flinched as the explosion rattled her eardrums. All she saw was the black of her father's clothes and all she could smell was her father's cologne. When it was all over, her father drew away and over to someone's mangled and burned body. He shook for a few moments before calling some of his servants to take them away and send them to the casino he'd told their mother about.
