He was a shining star among the dark and empty sky.

He thought I never noticed him watching and looking out for me, but I knew. Part of me always knew that he was and although my first reaction was that it was weird, I found comfort in him looking after me–because nobody else did.

We had never spoken before, yet somehow I felt as if I knew him already and I knew he felt the same. I was quiet and stayed to myself, the way I preferred it. Nobody tried to reach out and I was fine with that, although I know I shouldn't have been.

However, it was him that made me feel somewhat better–made me feel like I wasn't alone. And although it's hard to explain, it was how I felt in some odd way.

"Excellent job on your exam, Jangmi." Professor Yang said as he slid my exam score onto my desk, snapping me out of whatever daydream I was in. Looking down at the sheet of paper, I sighed in relief. A perfect score. I could feel the eyes of the other students in the room watching me as I stood from my seat and started towards the exit. I had only come to get my results and was ready to leave.

"Yah Jangmi," Someone called from behind me as I was walking through the exit doors. I glanced over my shoulder to see it was Jisoo, a boy who had endlessly asked me for tutoring no matter how many times I said I couldn't.

"I don't do tutoring, Jisoo." I sighed as I left the building, however, Jisoo still persisted.

"Come on Jangmi, I need the extra help." He replied as he fell in step beside me.

"I already told you I couldn't, aren't your parents rich? Just pay for a tutor." I said as I hurried ahead, only for him to harshly grab my wrist causing me to gasp in pain due to his grip. "Let go of me, Jisoo," I said as I pulled away, but he still didn't let go of me.

"Why're you playing hard to get, Jangmi? You should be glad someone like me is pining after you." Jisoo said harshly as he pulled me closer.

"Yah, Jisoo!" Someone exclaimed from behind us, I glanced over my shoulder and almost cried in relief as I saw Seokjin walk over to us. "What's going on here?" He questioned as his eyes flicked to Jisoo's grip on my wrist to which he hastily released at the look.

"Oh um... we were just talking about class, that's all, right Jangmi?" Jisoo smiled as he looked at me, I took a small step back and felt Seokjin lay a hand on the small of my back at the movement. I looked up at him but he was only staring at Jisoo.

"I suggest you take your leave now," Seokjin said, Jisoo's eyes widened in surprise before he glared at us and stalked off in the other direction. "Are you okay?" Seokjin questioned as he looked down at me, his eyes trailing to my wrist.

"Yes, thank you," I said softly as I watched him

"I'm Seokjin,"

"I know," I said with a small smile, Seokjin seemed surprised for a moment before a soft smile spread across his face. "I'm Jangmi."

"Like the flower," He mumbled, his eyes meeting mine. I hadn't realized how close his face was until we locked eyes. Almost as if he read my mind, Seokjin took a step back and cleared his throat. "Is he always like that with you?" He questioned

"Jisoo? No, that's the first time he's gotten physical with me." I said as I subconsciously rubbed my wrist.

"If he does it again, let me know."

"What?" I asked as I cocked my head to the side, shocked at what he said.

"He shouldn't lay his hands on you, so if he does it again tell me and I'll handle it." Seokjin stuffed his hands into his pockets and rolled his shoulders, a small smile on his face as I merely stared at him.

"I... thank you." I bowed my head for a moment before clearing my throat and looking at him. "Why're you helping me?" Seokjin looked taken aback by my question and he shifted on his feet. "I don't mean that in a rude way, it's just a lot of people here don't care for me and–"

"I'm not everyone else, though." Seokjin said, "I know what they say about you Jangmi and I don't listen to it. They don't know you so how can they say those things? I don't know you either but who am I to judge?" I let out a sigh and looked up towards the sky, not wanting him to see my eyes glazed with tears.

"Thank you," I whispered
