She was stuck in a daydream as she watched.

She had come every day to watch the cherry blossoms fall from their branches. Her pink hair danced in the wind as it tangled with the fallen blossoms, a beautiful flurry of pink and white. She smiled graciously as she watched them fall.

I would stand across the street and watch her as the day went by, she had never looked happier. It wasn't until one day when she turned and caught my eye that I realized.

She didn't look startled as we locked eyes.

She looked thankful.

"You'll be late for class if you stay outside a moment longer," Someone said from behind me

"You'll be late for class if you stay outside a moment longer," Someone said from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder, I locked eyes with Jangmi who smiled brightly at me.

"Might I say the same for you?" I chuckled as I turned to fully face her.

"I'm done with my classes for today," She replied, tucking a strand of pink hair behind her ear. "I was about to go to the park before I went home."

"Can I go with you?" I questioned as I took a step forward, much to my surprise she didn't step back. Instead, a soft smile graced her face.

"You're not worried about class?" She asked, I merely shook my head before she walked up to me. "Then let's go, Mr. Kim." She grinned as she grabbed my elbow, pulling me forward. Her smile seemed real, and for a moment I stared before we stopped at a crosswalk.

"What makes you enjoy the park so much?" I asked as we crossed the street and walked into the park.

"The cherry blossoms," She simply said before skipping ahead of me and into the walkway full of falling blossoms.

"I don't get it," I said as I came to her side, holding my hand out to catch stray petals.

"Get what?" Jangmi asked as she peered into the sky, her eyes shut as she took a deep breath.

"What everyone says about you," She froze at my statement and looked over at me, squinting as she shook her head.

"You're just like them," She mumbled as she pulled her sweater around her and hugged herself.

"I didn't mean to–"

"You never do," She said with a small smile before walking away from me. I opened my mouth to speak but ended up sighing instead.

"Jangmi!" I called as I jogged after her, grabbing her arm, however, she quickly pulled her arm away and looked at me with wide eyes. "I'm sorry, I truly am."

"These boys at school are ruthless, I just thought you'd be different."

"I am, I don't believe any of the things they say–I never have." I said but she only smiled and grabbed my hand.

"Well, let me enlighten you as to why I am called those things."
