What Happened

The Previous Day

"Kelly!" I yelled to my best friend. "Hurry up, I want to get there before this party is over!"

Tonight was going to be the biggest party of the year, held by the most popular boy in grade 11, Dean Collins. Kelly had a huge crush on Dean, so of course it took her 2 hours to get ready for this party. 

"I'm coming! We don't need to be there right away, it's always cool to get there when there are already people there. It sucks to get there when nobody is there yet." said Kelly as she came down the stairs.

"Well the party started 2 hours ago, so I'm pretty sure there are going to be people there." I said under my breath.

Kelly looked gorgeous. She was wearing a skin-tight light purple dress that came half way to her knees. She had her dark brown hair pin- straight with her bangs braided to the side. Compared to me in my regular jean shorts and black t-shirt, she looked like a million bucks. "Am I oversressed? Should I change? Should I put more makeup on? What shoes should I wear?" she asked.

"You look fine Kell, let's go. Wear whatever you want. I don't want to get there when the party is over." I said, irritated. 

Just as we got out of the car, my boyfriend Alex pulled me aside. "We're having a campfire in the woods if you two want to join us!" he said. 

"No way." Kelly declined. "We're going inside to find Dean!"

"Of course you are! What was I thinking, inviting my girlfriend and her best friend to hang out with me. How silly of me!" said Alex, a little hurt.

"I'll come to the campfire." I said. "Don't you want to be alone with Dean anyways, Kell? I'm sure he wouldn't want me hanging around with you guys, go have fun."

"You're leaving me? What if I can't find him? You promised you'd come in with me!" yelled Kelly. 

"I never promised, besides, you'll probably just want me to go away when you find him anyways." And with that, I walked into the forest with Alex.
