Summer 2015
"Oh my God, that is the most adorable baby ever," a male voice says behind me.
"Thank you," I reply turning around to where the voice was coming from. When I give a look at the person, I become paralyze.
"Cecilia?" the guy asks.
It was Louis.
He was there, right in front of me. In front of our daughter.
"Louis...hi," I greet. I look over to Leah and she is still coloring, completely oblivious to the matter.
"How are you?" he asks me.
"I'm fine. What about you?" I ask out of politeness. Of course I knew how he was. He is totally fine living his dream. Something I always wanted for him.
"I'm good... how long has it been?" he asks.
"Almost three-" I start to say but I'm interrupted by a tall brunette girl.
"Hey babe, the table is ready," she says to Louis. She turned to looked at me. "Who's her?" she asks looking at him.
"This is Cecilia. Cecilia this is Eleanor, my girlfriend," Louis introduces.
"Oh, Cecelia. Nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you," she says smiling and extending her hand to me. I take it and shake it.
"Hey babe, I'll be at the table in a minute, okay?" Louis tells her. She nods and he kisses her forehead. Eleanor leaves and Louis seats at the chair next to me and Leah. "And who is this one?" he asks, playing with Leah.
"That's Leah. My... my daughter," I reply.
'Our daughter,' I say to myself. Louis looks at me shocked.
"You have a daughter?" he asks, frowning in confusion.
'Yes, it's our daughter,' I say to myself again.
"Yes," I say, looking down at the table.
"How old is she?" he asks.
If I tell him, he will now something is up. He will either think I cheated on him or suspect that the baby is his.
"She is two. Turning three in a few months," I reply, leading with the truth. He looks at me and then to Leah. Leah chooses that moment to lift her head and look at me.
"Mummy," she says. Her eyes open wide when she sees Louis. Louis eyes soften when he looks at her.
"So Louis, how is life treating you?" I ask him, his gaze comes back to me and he smiles.
"Everything is good. A lot of traveling," he says.
"Yes, I read about your stadium concerts. Congratulations," I reply with a smile. He laughs, that adorable laugh of his that I loved and still love.
"Yes, we are heading to the states in a few months. We are taking a break right now," he says. He picks one of the crayons and starts coloring along with Leah. "So Leah, you are absolutely the most adorable baby ever. After Lux of course," he adds. I smile.
"Louis, you should go back to Eleanor, she is seating alone," I say. Louis's head snaps on the direction Eleanor is seating.
"Shit. I forgot about her," he murmurs, standing up. "I'll be right back," he says and walks over to Eleanor. The waitress comes to my table to take our orders.
"Yes, I'll have-" I start to say but Louis interrupts me.
"A thin crust pepperoni pizza," he says and I smile. He remembers. "Mind if we join you?" Louis asks.
