"So, you're a demon? You live in a house with a human and an angel?" I clarified. Patricia nodded.
"That is right."
"How have you guys not killed each other?"
"Alex died a few months ago, actually. Then Kris had to ruin the fun and drag him back from hell."
My eyes widened and I scooted away from her on the couch. "That's... Disturbing."
She shrugged and Alex walked in. "Greetings queens." He said, sitting down on the chair and smiling. "What's going on in the mind of our newcomer? Do you like the place? What do you think of your room? How about the balcony attached to it? That used to be a study but now it's yours."
"Oh, um, it's great. It's a big room, though." I stuttered slightly and Kristyn joined us.
"Can you two stop scaring my little brother? He's only a child."
"I'm sixteen..."
"And I'm twenty-two. And Alex and Patricia are twenty-one." Kristyn sat down on the other chair and sighed. "When are your friends supposed to arrive with the rest of your stuff again?"
I frowned sadly. "Crowley said that him and the others will be here the day after tomorrow. Lucifer ate a gas-station sandwich and got sick and they refuse to let Dean drive because Crowley knows that he'll floor it and break the speed limit to reach me. I guess Dean's also not feeling to great after drinking a coffee from some vegan Starbucks ripoff, so they're stuck in Ohio. Poor Crowley, he has to watch over both of them."
"That was a wild story from start to finish." Patricia exclaimed.
"Oh please, that's a normal Tuesday morning for me." Alex said with a smirk.
"Who's those people? Crowley and Dean and Lucifer?" Kristyn asked.
I smiled. "They're my friends. Crowley was the first person I really became friends with since me and mom had moved to Kansas- it's weird to think that I only lived there a few months- and Lucifer I met in the bathroom. Which sounds wrong... But Lucifer and Crowley are pretty much dating, but would probably kill anyone who mentioned it."
"And Dean?"
I smiled wider. "He's an awesome guy. I accidentally ran into him and his brother, Sam, on the first day of school but now he's my... Um... Really good friend, heheh. He has all kinds of tattoos and piercings, kinda like you do, Kristyn."
She nodded and lifted up her t-shirt sleeve some to show off her tattoos. "I like this one the most." She pointed to a three-eyes sphinx cat head on her shoulder. "And this one." She pointed to some words on her wrist.
Amare Supra Vita
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"Love over life." Kristyn said happily. Her wings hung over the sides of the seat and she leaned back. "I love latin. I know it's used in a bunch of exorcises and ghostly shit, I've been trying to learn them."
"Hoe don't do it." Patricia said. Kristyn smirked.
"Stupra vos." Patricia grabbed an empty glass off the table and threw it at the other girl. Kristyn caught it and set it on the coffee table.
"Where's my latin insults?" Alex asked, making a pouty face.
"You don't get one, you're too nice." Kristyn said.
"What is happening?" I squeaked.
"Let's go to the store, we need food and stuff." She said, changing the topic and standing up. I followed suit, along with the others.
"How about no?" Patricia said, turning and leaving. Alex shrugged and raced after. They both disappeared to their bedrooms.
Kristyn sighed and frowned. "Do you wanna come with me, Castiel?" I nodded and grabbed my coat before heading out the door with her. We drove down to the mall. We wandered from shop to shop. Getting food and cleaning supplies and anything the house needed. She even bought me a new trench coat since mine was drowning in paint. We got back in the car and Kristyn sighed.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
She nodded. "Yeah, it's just, I'm frustrated. And sad. With Mom..."
"It's not your fault."
"But... I hadn't spoken with her in years, I never said goodbye to her six years. And now I'll never be able to. I'll never be able to make amends with her. She died thinking I hate her..." Kristyn busted out in tears and all I could do was hug her and cry along.
"It's okay, Kristyn. We're family, she knows you love her. And I feel bad, too. I could have saved her. But I was on a camping trip instead, getting caught kissing my best friend by his brother. We're a screwed up group of people, and we need each other to keep everything together."
Kristyn chuckled softly and we broke the hug. "You got caught making out with someone?"
I blushed. "Y-yeah..."
"Was it Dean? The guy you mentioned?"
"How'd you know?"
"Your eyes lit up when you talked about him back at the house, it didn't seem like he was just a good friend." She nudged me with her elbow and started up the car. I laughed and blushed more. "You sure do blush a lot. That's something that's never changed, has it?"
"I-I guess not."
Kristyn smiled and turned on the radio. "Oh! I love this song!" She turned it up more and sang along.
"There's a war inside my head
Sometimes I wish that I was dead I'm broken
So I call this therapist
And she said "Girl you can't be fixed, just take this"
I'm tired of trying to be normal
I'm always over thinking
I'm driving myself crazy
So what if I'm fucking crazy
And I don't need your quick fix
I don't want your prescriptions
Just cause you say I'm crazy
So what if I'm fucking crazy
And I'm gonna show you
Loco, maniac
Sick bitch, psychopath
Yea I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna show you
Yea I'm gonna show you
Mental, out my brain
Bad shit, go insane
Yea I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna show you
Yea I'm gonna show you!" Kristyn's eyes never wavered from the road as she sang along. It almost seemed like she was in a trance."Crazy, crazy
Yea I'm gonna show you
Crazy, crazy
Yea I'm gonna show you (yea)
Crazy, Crazy
I'm tired of trying to be normal
I'm driving myself crazy
And I don't need your quick fix
I don't want your prescriptions
Just cause you say I'm crazy
So what if I'm fucking crazy
And I'm gonna show you!" I joined in for the last chorus, having learned the lyrics well enough from listening to Kristyn sing it."Loco, maniac
Sick bitch, psychopath
Yea I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna show you
Yea I'm gonna show you
Mental, out my brainBad shit, go insane
Yea I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna show you
Yea I'm gonna show you." I held out the last note a bit longer than Kristyn, she smiled at me and I tried to laugh it off."Ya'know, I don't think I've ever heard you cuss before. But in the song, oof. Anyways, we're home." I nodded and we got out.
I smiled to myself, maybe living with my sister and her strange friends wouldn't be so bad.
