Uma's POV
There were several moments where Uma seriously considered backing out of this thing but before she had even gotten a chance to object Evie had dragged her out of the house without a single thought about it. Thankfully Uma had been able to convince her to let her drive her own car to the thing so that way no one would have to leave early to take her home when she was ready to go. Thanks to Evie intervening Uma now stood at the top of the high steps that lead down to where the party was just beginning to get going. Even though there were times that Uma complained about Auradon using everything as a reason to party, she had to admit that they were good at it.
The ballroom was decorated in a light shade of blue perfect for the winter, and crystal snowflakes were hung from the ceiling. The tables were adorned with blue tablecloths that sat beneath crystal snowflake centerpieces surrounded by fake snow to dress it up. in the center of the room was the dance floor, which fairy godmother had enchanted so that real snowflakes would fall and then melt without wetting the ground to give the effect of the winter. All in all Uma was impressed and was glad that she was here to witness it. Uma took off her coat and handed to Lumiere when he came to collect it and walked down the steps immediately looking for Evie. She had just her blue-haired friend when she was soon pulled aside by a familiar blond and brunette duo, before her stood both Harriet and Cj Hook and they looked excited to see her.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so happy you're here!" Cj squealed, "It's about time you stopped acting like a loner." Harriet said playfully. The two were so busy going on and on about how excited they were to see her and about how beautiful the ball was that Uma didn't realize when someone else joined them "Why don't you two leave this poor girl alone, no one wants to listen to you idiots babble." said a voice in an all too familiar Scottish accent. Both dreading and longing to see the person it belonged to Uma turned around to face her ex-boyfriend soon enough to see the combination of shock and anguish on his face "Uma?" he asked as if she had risen from the dead and he couldn't believe it. Awkwardly she crossed her arms as an uncomfortable fell on both of them. "We're going to let you two talk," Cj said nervously as she tried to pull Harriet away from the two of them.
Uma spoke before she got the chance "No, that's okay...I need to go find Evie anyway." she told them as she hurried away before Harry could say another word. When she was sure he was completely out of her sight Uma sat down on a vacant chair to recollect herself. Evie had warned her that he would be there that evening but she hadn't planned on encountering him at all. Now she had seen him for about five seconds and every feeling of longing for him and heartache was creeping up on her, and it was doing so with a vengeance. She felt like all of the air was being sucked from the room and everything was going dark, Uma wanted nothing more than to be able to breathe again and to see the light. Soon she was pulled back to reality by a gentle hand on her shoulder "Hey, you okay?" said a voice and Uma looked up to see Mal standing there with concern etched on her face.
regaining some composure Uma answered, "Yeah, I just ran into someone I didn't plan on seeing." She said truthfully and Mal nodded her head, understanding who she was talking about. Using the back of her chair to stand up Uma said: "I need to find Evie, have you seen her?" hoping Mal could point her in the right direction, in a shockingly friendly manner Mal nodded and let her know that Evie was talking with Audrey and Chad about their honeymoon. Uma thanked Mal and set off to find Evie, hoping that she wouldn't run into Harry again.
Harry's POV
Uma was there, for the first time in six months he had laid eyes on her. In the few seconds, he saw her the last twelve years came rushing back to him in a wave. Sure he was in a relationship with Sophie and she was great, especially having grown up a little since he'd last seen her, but it didn't change the fact that he still loved Uma. Leaving was the hardest thing he'd ever done but they were arguing so much those last few days and then she'd said there was no fixing them...he wasn't sure of what he was supposed to do. Even those five months he was gone on a mission he thought of Uma often. He came home with the intention of calling her to talk but getting blackout drunk to the point became a priority and then Sophie came into his life and he found that he had a good thing going for him.
