The middle-aged man hurriedly gets out of his car, running up to the hospital entrance.
Nine.
"Room one-oh-nine!" he pants to the receptionist. "She's in critical condition, and I have to see her!"
Eight.
"Family only, sir," the receptionist says rather rudely. "That's the rules."
"I'm her father!"
Seven.
He sprints down the hall, quickly pressing buttons on the elevator. Please don't let him be too late.
Six.
The elevator doors open, and without any hesitation, he runs out and to her room.
Five.
His wife meets him at the door.
"She's still unconscious," she sobs. "They don't know if she's going to wake up."
"Let me see her," he says, feeling his heart breaking, but he still looks determined.
Four.
He pushes his way into the room, regretting the decision to visit his wife. Her body is pale, and there's a bunch of tubes connected to her body. The sound of the heart monitor beeping definitely isn't helping his anxiety.
Three.
"Vanessa." He moves to sit in the chair next to his daughter's body, and grabs her cold her hand. "I love you."
Two.
"Please don't leave us. We love you." Tears start running down his cheeks, and the beeping of the heart monitor accelerates.
One.
The beeping stops.
