“Hey, Abigail, Paige! Ya took ya time, big sis.” Hayley called from the tree.

Paige snorted and unlocked the gate to the sideyard.

“Sera, Megga and Lokiya I want to show you something. Come inside.” Paige called.

“It's pronounced Sa-ra, not Se-ra. And Mag-da not Me-ga. And Lo-key-ya not Lok-i-ya.”

“A-ha. I'm bad at names.” Paige retorted.

“So I can see.” Magda replied, sternly.

Paige glared at her.

“Maybe I shouldn't give the gift to her.” Paige whispered, only so that Abigail could hear, as they trudged up the stairs.

“I'd give it. She'll appreciate it a lot, I swear.” Abigail whispered back.

“Nice bedroom.” Lokeyia sniffed.

“Thank you.” Paige beamed at her.

“Nice costume, Gail. I forgot to mention.” Magda smiled at Abigail.

Lokeyia and Sara nodded in agreement.

Paige smiled.

“Close your eyes, Sa-rah, Lo-key and Mag-dah.”

Sara, Lokeyia and Magda did as they were told. Paige drew out the bag and placed their clothes on the bed in front of them.

“Ready, three, two, one, open!” Paige said.

“Wow, these are beautiful! And, my favourite colour, crimson! I love orange too!” Lokeyia exclaimed, looking at the ombre dress. “Though the neckline is slightly low for my taste. Still, I can't wait to put it on.”

“This dress is fantastic! It's great, and oh, the slippers! Their so great, wow!” Sara said, excitedly slipping on her green and white slippers. “Paige, Abigail, thank you so, so much.”

Magda stared at her top, flowery jeans and long, lacy leather sandals.

“Oh, thanks! Wow, these shoes! And the jeans, these are the best ones I ever had, I'm sure! And the top, is a beautiful blue. By the way, nice bedroom.” Magda said the last sentence slightly awkwardly.

Lokeyia, Magda and Sara headed off to get changed, which left Paige and Abigail alone.

“So, tell me more about your friends.” Paige said.

“Well, Magda is generally the happy and sunny one, Lokeyia is the nice one, and Sara is also nice but she's a different nice. Sara is really friendly. Everyone always liked her. Apart from one woman, Savannah.”

When Abigail said her name, a wave of sickness flushed over her.

Paige’s eyes widened.

“Savannah! Annah! I knew her! Her family lives down the street! She ran away to live with her cousins and the Woodies.”

Abigail clutched get stomach. She could not bear to remember Annah feeding her those berries, then Annah’s  eyes peering over hers that unlucky night, Imelda’s grey eyes pouring into hers, Imelda swinging Annah around outside the fence, Annah tripping, the bloodshed, Magda’s scar on her face in the ghostly light, Lokeyia crying, Sara mopping her eyes. It was just too much.

“Gail, are you OK? You've gone all pale.” Paige stared at her.

Abigail realised she had fallen on the bed and was staring blankly at the ceiling.

Paige’s arms lifted Abigail and her light copper hair tickled Abigail’s face.

“No, I'm fine Paige. Let me down.”

Paige nodded and placed Abigail back down on the bed.

The door opened and Rosa walked in. Her eyes widened.

“Dear Abigail, are you all right. Do you need the first aid kit, it's downstairs.”

“It looks like she's got a heart attack!” Hayley exclaimed. She stood behind Rosa.

“Hayley! Utterly rude! I do not have time to babysit you.”

“Your utterly rude, Rosa!”

Rosa aimed a kick at Hayley from behind, but Hayley dodged easily.

“I'm well thanks. Just a shock. You know Savannah. The woman who lived down the street.”

Hayley, Paige and Rosa nodded just as Magda, Lokeyia and Sara bustled in, with shocked looks.

“She is dead. We saw her die. Another Healer, in a higher position than her, helped kill her. She wasn't happy with the Wood Inhabs. She wanted to go back. But, she couldn't.”

“I am so sorry. That must have been awful.” Rosa said.

“She would always play with me when we invited her over.” Hayley said longingly.

“She was really sweet.” Paige sighed.

“She really hated me and had a little hate for Sara too. But we got on well, eventually. I was sad. Very sad.” Lokeyia added.

“Rosa and Hayley! Come down here this moment! You're not to crowd Paige’s room!” Mama Meyer screeched.

Rosa and Hayley trudged downstairs.

“Hey, you know what? There's a ball soon! I'm old enough to go! I'm inviting you four.”

I meant to have a month break between writing Part 1 and 2, and I only really got one week. So I will make up for it and now have a three week break from writing this book. This is also because life for me has been very busy lately. My other books will be updated in that time, and I might even publish my new, surprise book. Keep an eye out if it does come out!

Signing off for three weeks,
~Camila
