[RECAP]:
Grabbing the phone and unlocking it I saw I had one new message. From the person I had been waiting for, all these days replied with something so simple, but my brain was going haywire.
Victoria had texted me:
Bell, I need you.
****
A gasp tore through my lips as I read the message. Oh god. What if something was wrong?
Clutching my phone in hand I rushed out of the room and down the stairs.
"Where are you going? Liam's mom asked in concern, "Is something the matter?"
"Um, sorry ma'am but my frien-err- best friend had sent me something and I am worried about her so I thought I should go find out."
"Oh," she said nodding understandingly, "I hope everything will be ok."
"I hope so ma'am." Taking that as my cue I rushed out the door grabbing the keys discarded on the table.
Guilt suddenly coursed through me, I was acting as if this was my house. I made a mental note to apologize to them later.
Backing out of the driveway I sped towards Vic's house.
I made it there in less than five minutes. Jumping out of the car I ran towards the door of Victoria's residence and rang the bell.
DING.
DONG.
A frustrated sigh escaped through my lips as I went to ring the bell again.
DING.
DONG.
Another frustrated sigh escaped through my lips as I reached for the bell once again. But the door swung open before I could get a chance to.
"Bella, what are you doing here?"
"Wow, what an interesting way to show how much you missed someone Victoria." I said sarcastically, "I missed you too."
Her surprised face softened and opened the door wider to let me in. After a few moments of silence she said, "It's just that, I didn't expect you, here, especially at this time"
I looked up at the clock, it read 7:43.
"Well, you said you needed me, here I am." The concern etched on my face was inevitable and I felt as if there was more to this story than she was letting on.
Now noticing the silence, I asked her, "Hey, where are your parents?"
As if that was all that it took, she broke down into my arms. Her breaths coming out in hiccups as she clutched onto my arms.
It was painful to see her like this. All I could do was embrace her and let the torrent of her tears to soak through my shirt. I could feel her clench her fists, not knowing exactly why. I could hear her whimpering, suffocating with each breath she took. I ran my fingers through her hair, time and time again, in an attempt to calm whatever was going on within her mind.
"I'm sorry" she said letting go of me and taking a step back.
"No, don't apologize, whatever it is I'm sure it's not your fault."
She let out a dry laugh, "It actually is."
I sent her a confused look, "What do you mean?"
"I mean that," she sniffled, "when my parents fight, they keep bringing up me, and how if I wasn't here things would be easier."
