Life was cruel. Very unbearably wickedly cruel.
This was a realisation that I had made years ago and one i still strongly believe till this day.
Why this sudden life lesson? Simple. Life was playing a cruel joke on me and I was finding it unamusing.
The reason would be that I was having dinner with Eric Blaize in Charlie and his wife's home. Said boy was smiling through out and all I wanted to do was wipe that smug smile off his lips.
How did a normal day turn so annoying. Let's start from the beginning.
***********
It was an annoying sunny morning when I was rudely woken up by my ringing phone. Note I have never and will never be a morning person.Luckily there was no school today. Thank the Lord. As such I was looking forward to a five hour sleep before heading to Claras house.
That was until someone decided it'll be fucking perfect to ruin that plan. "Hello". I snapped angrily, my voice groggy and hoarse from sleep.
"Zoey darling!"
I pulled the phone away slowly looking over the caller id.
Crap.. "Florence. Hey"
"Sorry to wake you up but I was wondering if you could come over for the day?" She asked in her usual bubbly tone. There was a pause before she continued "Great so i'll be seeing you later then"
She hung up before I could say anything leaving me dumbfounded.
So much for my five hour nap. I thought as I pushed the covers off, slipping my legs out of bed. Immediately allowing the chilly morning air make contact with my skin which caused me to shudder.
After a quick shower, I walked out and slipped into the sunflower dress that had laid buried at the back of my closet.
What? Yes I wear dresses too. Just not occasionally that's all. I am after all female you judgy people.
I paired my one piece gown with a white handbag and a nude wedged heel. A few extensions were removed and my brown hair looked curled and normal. I also apply a touch of makeup.
Deciding I looked acceptable, I walked out my room and headed downstairs. I wasn't taking my bike today because as much as riding excites me, I can't ride in a freaking gown. The bus was an option so I walked to the bus stop.
The ride to Charlie's home was fairly short. As in I fairly slept through out the whole ride kinda short. I stepped onto the posh white stairs and was greeted by Juliana, the house keeper. I gave a small smile and proceeded into the house. The bell rang once the the dooe swung open revealing a very beautiful Florence who immediately strangled me in a hug.
My god exactly what does this woman eat?
"Thanks for coming zoey". She released me from her hold, her lips curved into a happy smile. "Come in"
The house was beautiful and no matter how many times I saw it, I still admired it. The insides were decorated with paintings and vintage items, the stairways designed like those of the Victoria era. The carpets were expensive and added a glow to the dull interior.
"There's someone i'd love for you to meet". She spoke as she led me into the living room. " Zoey I'd like to introduce my nephew Eric. Eric meet zoey"
And that ladies and gentle brings me back to the burning question I asked over again and again. How do you strangle someone with a turkey leg?.
"Thank you both for coming. It means a lot". Florence, who hadn't noticed the thick atmosphere spoke. In her defence she was probably making light conversation.
