Fast forward a few years, and the girl is a senior in high school. The summer of senior year was rough, the girl went through something that caused her to flinch away from guys and to lose the little bit of hope she grew.

She slept most of the days away. She didn't leave her room. She felt numb. She spent that summer trying to get back on her feet. She saw how happy her dog was to see her every morning, and something clicked that she didn't want to keep living life the way she was. She had things to live for, she had a whole life ahead of her and exciting things to come. The girl went to work and started to socialize. She was becoming happy, she was back to her optimistic self and she would smile at strangers she saw. She started to try and live life the happiest she could, because anger had gotten her nowhere. Sadness did more harm than good, so positivity seemed like a good change.

She headed for a new city that fall and she loved it. She was in a big city, with no one there having any preconceived ideas about her. It was the fresh start she needed. She was the happiest she'd been in a long time. She had friends and she was excelling at her classes. There were a few bumps in the road, but what's any adventure without a few bumps in the road. She was majoring in pre-law because not only did she want to help people, but she wanted everyone to have a voice. The girl had been silenced so many times in her life, and she didn't want anyone to feel that powerless.

Fall seemed to fly by and before she knew it, she was heading home for winter break. Little did she know what was to come.
