Chapter 3: You What?
"Oh my gosh, what the hell were you thinking Rayna?" Caroline said rolling her eyes, "You slept with Jason?" "Wait! I did not sleep with him, well I did, just not in that way!" I said trying to sound defensive. "Oh, well anyway, that's still weird! I mean you guys were BFFs and now your hating each others guts, and your sleeping with each other now?" Caroline said raising her eyebrows. "No, it's complicated, like he cares but than he doesn't, I don't know, ok??" I said looking down at my black Doc Martens.
I parked my car and got out and walked to the front lunch tables waiting for Liam to explain himself. I was some game on my phone when I saw Liam walk up with his hands in his pockets, "Hi, thanks for listening me out," he said softly, "Yeah, I need to know what happened, Liam, your one of my best friends." I said looking at him. He nodded his head and took a deep breath, "Well it happened last year at Connor Marcus's party, remember when he threw that huge party at his beach house?" I nodded my head as a yes, "Well I was drunk and me and Stella's sister, Simone, well um, I got her pregnant." I looked at him with wide eyes, "Liam," before I could continue he cut me off, "I didn't fucking know until like a whole month later she told me, she was pregant for a while than got an abortion. I felt so bad, Ria, like there was this child, a-and it's.." he stopped and couldn't continue, he sat there and we didn't speak for awhile. "Liam, you should've told me, I wouldn't have judged you, I would've supported you, raising that child or n-not." I said comforting him. "So is that why Stella used you to make me mad?" "Yeah, she said that she would tell everyone," he starting laughing, "I mean it sounds so kidish that she was gonna tell everyone, it sounds like something a kindergarten would do, but I couldn't have the whole school knowing that I got Simone pregnant," I nodded my head and hugged him, he hugged me back, "I'm so sorry, Liam."
We walked into the school hallways together, me, Liam, and Caroline. Stella gave us a dirty look yet I just smiled and walked past her, I think that pissed her quite a bit. "Hey, Liam and I are going to head off to science lab okay?" said Caroline, "Yeah see you guys at lunch," I said smiling. Caroline smiled and locked arms with Liam, I smiled their was something about them that was just...cute. The bell rang, and I headed off to Calculus, my first period. I came through the back as I always do and sat in the third row. This time I actually had someone sitting next to me, Jason. "Um hi," I said setting my backpack down on the stool, "Hey," he said looking at his phone and not paying attention, "Thanks for the ride to school and um last night too." I said softly hoping no one would hear. "Yeah Ria no problem," he looked up and smiled, Mr. Smith came in and everyone shut up and sat down in their seats. "Okay class, today we will be looking further into our books and taking notes, your test is on Friday, 2 days from now. By the way your assignments are due tomorrow so don't forget." Mr. Smith said scanning the room. The class nodded their heads and started listening to Mr. Smith rambling on about Calculus. But I noticed someone was throwing something at me, I turned around seeing some of guys throwing stuff at me. They all started smirking and laughing, I touched the back of my head. Ew spitballs, I de-tangled them and threw them on the floor. "What the hell are you throwing on the floor?" Jason spat out, "None of your business, there was something in my hair." "Oh?" "Yeah nothing exciting." I said sarcastically
After 5th period, was lunch, I found Caroline and Liam sitting at our usual table. "Ugh I have to go with Jason to finish our Calculus assignment," I said groaning, "Well you slept with him last night so that's no biggy." Caroline said smirking, "You fucking what now?" Liam said with wide eyes, "You slept with Jason, the guy that was all nice than started making fun of you?" "Yeah well no, I didn't slept with him, we slept in the same bed, we didn't do anything." I said blushing. "Hahahaha!" Caroline started laughing her ass off, I rolled my eyes and shook my eye, "Okay you know what, whatever guys." Caroline and Liam both started laughing, and I just smiled, they would make a cute couple, I started thinking.
After school, I waited for Jason outside on the school lunch tables, "Finally, where have you been?" Jason said out of breath, "I was here waiting for you, the total hour." I said looking at curiously, "Why are you out of breath? Were you running?" "Of course I was freakin running, I was looking at you and than I looked at the time and I started running around looking for you," Jason said rolling his eyes, "Oh?" I said my cheeks turning red. We started driving home when my favorite song came on, Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker, I started singing and after awhile so did Jason, rock me mama like a wagon wheel, rock me mama anyway you feel, heyyyy, mama rock me. We started laughing and smiling, I haven't felt this way around Jason for awhile.
We got to his house and he parked the car outside and entered his house, "Jason is that you? Your room is a comple-" Mrs. Richmen froze, "Ria! Sweetheart, I haven't seen you in ages, how are you?" I was laughing and trying to breath from the tight hug Mrs. Richmen gave me, "I'm doing fine, how are you?" I asked feeling bubbly, "I'm great, I'm so happy to see you."
Jason and I headed to the office, "Sorry about that," he said scratching the back of his head smirking, "Um it's fine, your moms sweet," I said smiling. "Jason I need to ask you something," I said looking at the floor, 'Hmm? Yeah what?" he said look at me with his hazel eyes, "Last night you said you were sorry and you were a jerk. Why did you ignore me and started being rude to me?" I asked sighing realizing I shouldn't have asked. "Ria, well, ever since my dad cheated on my mom, I didn't really care anymore. Like I saw no point in anything anymore." he said looking at me, "Why did you have to shut me out than? Why me? I thought you were my friend Jason," "I didn't mean to shut you out, it's just, I didn't find a reason in caring about anyone, anymore." I realized Jason was stepping closer to me very time he spoke to me. "I was stupid, I'm sorry Ria." he said whispered in my ear, his lips touched the tips of my ear and I felt this tingling sensation in my stomach again, "Don't shut me out, ever again, I will be here, always." I whispered back. I looked at him, I wanted to kiss him, right then and there. Instead I said, "Jason, we should work back on our Calculus assignment," "Yeah of course." Jason said, but before he went away, I hugged him. He hugged me tighter, "Rayna, I will never shut you out, I promise."
