the "not date".

finn and millie went to a small café called,
"Ashley's Café."

the temperature outside dropped slightly as it was now 5:00 p.m. as millie entered the café, she was instantly greeted by the warmth of the café and the smell of coffee.

millie looked around the unfamiliar place;
small cushioned stools were set up in front of a brown polished counter that was facing multiple shelves filled with different kinds of drinks. there were brown circular wooden tables with wooden chairs scattered around the tiny cafe.

with a mini menu and an occasional sunflower occupying the empty tables. the reddish-brownish brick walls were filled with both drawings of old artists and mini chalk boards with random quotes scribbled onto them.

she took in the surroundings staring in awe. the place seemed so cozy and lovely, and she had already figured out that if you listened closely you could hear the faint beat and lyrics of a song.

finn guided millie towards a small table that had two chairs, sitting down in the one on the opposite side of hers'.
"so what do you think of the place?"

finn asked millie, finn had been going to the café for three years now. he would come to the café almost everyday after school. the place was basically his second home now.
"this place seems lovely finn, thank you for taking me here."

replied the brunette, she had already taken a liking to the place even if she has only been here for less then five minutes.
finn smiled, he was glad that millie was already loving the place. the last time he had (idiotically) brought a girl here was one year ago. the girl had hated the place and clearly stated it by throwing a tantrum saying how "awful and disgusting" the place looked and demanded to be taken somewhere else.

a few seconds later, a waitress that seemed around their age stood in front of the pair.
"hello, welcome to Ashley's Café! i'm grace and i'll be your waitress for today! what would you like to order?"

the girl had a light pink colored short bob that stopped under her chin and was wearing the cafés' uniform. she had a bright smile painted across her face and had a light and airy voice that came off as friendly and welcoming.

"i would like a vanilla latte please."
millie stated in a soft voice, trying her best to make the statement come off as nice.
"hey grace! i would like what i usually get please."
"of course! your orders will be out in a bit."
grace walked away leaving the two to talk.

"you know her?"
"who, grace? yeah, i met her here when she waitered me a couple months ago. she's really cool once you get to know her."

millie nodded, trying to come up with more topics to talk about when she heard a song that just so happened to be one of her favorites.
bellyache by billie eilish came on. and if you listened closely, you could hear the faint sound of a guitar playing.

"so millie, how about we play 'twenty questions' while we wait for our drinks? plus, i'll be able to get to know a bit more about you."
responded finn, taking his gaze off of the wooden table to millie.

"uh, sure! you can go first."
answered millie, now all ears for finns' questions.
"okay, let's start off with the basics. one, what's your favorite color? and two: what's your favorite movie?"
"hm, my favorite color is light blue and my favorite movie might be...'Can't Buy Me Love' even though it's a romantic movie, i just love the plot line and the actors." millie responded, dragging on the 'e' in be.
