Pitter-patter.Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter.
It was hypnotizing. The sound of the rain droplets splattering against the glass.
Click.Click.Click.
It was addicting. Pushing the lever back in forth, risking the chance of spilling ink.
It was called paranoia. Constantly looking over my shoulder, as if a creature was stalking forward.
What was going to happen?
Something was coming?
But what?
"Scott?" A soft hand was layed on my jacket, a stark contrast between textures.
I stared at the hand. At the smooth pale skin that resemble warm milk. Eyes traveling upward I made contact on a pair of sharp monolids.
"Yeah Kira?" I answered. A eyebrow was arched in confusion.
"Are you in the right class?" The honey filled voice held a undefined tone.
Chuckling I nodded my head.
"Of course I'm in the right class. AP biology." I pointed at the bold words on my textbook to reiterate my answer.
Her forehead creased in concerned. She leaned in closer.
"Scott" she whispered, "you do know what AP stands for right?"
In return I leaned in closer to whisper.
"It stands for Advanced Placement." I quickly open my textbook, unveiling the scribble of notes in black ink.
She gives my one final look before leaning away, once the teacher walked in.
A Stern faced woman began talking.
"Hello, my name is Mrs.Finch and welcome to AP biology." She paused to observe her students.
She smirks and clasps her hands together.
"Let's see who's awake." She walks in front of her desk. "Can anyone tell me what plasmids are?"
A hands darts up, causing strands of strawberry blonde hair to tumble of her shoulders.
Mrs. Finch points to her.
"Lydia?"
"Plasmids are self-replicating dna molecules often used in cloning protein." Lydia answers with certainty, which receives her a appraising look from Mrs.Finch.
"Nicely stated Lydia. But can you tell me what vitamins are absorbed in the stomach via partial reproduction of gylcoprotein?"
Lydia looks to stunned to answer. Mrs. Finch quickly moves on to her next victim.
"Scott" she smiles, "do you know the answer?
My mind goes blank, I frantically shake my head no.
"Um,no."
"It's a common test question. Tell me what is your number one college choice?" She crosses her arms.
"Um-"
"Stop saying um."
I quickly retract that addlib.
"UC Davis."
Mrs.Finch nods her head in understanding.
"It's the best school on the west coast for biological and physical science." She states. I just nod my head in agreement.
She opens her mouth to say something, but is cut off by the arrival of someone.
Whisper. Whisper.Whisper.
Everyone was talking in hushed voices.
Lydia gasps.
Kira squeezes my arm.
And Allison.
Well she awkwardly stands there, and says "Sorry I'm tardy I was getting my schedule. I'm a new student Jade Aiken."
She never left.
