skylar's pov

hey, i don't think i introduced myself completely, but my name is skylar grace williams, but you can call me sky. i live in a pretty small house with my mom and dad. my dad is a hard worker. he's a lawyer and my mother works at a successful daycare which she owns. i am a seventeen year old girl living in new jersey. jersey is pretty ghetto, but still fun to live in. i am also a senior at greendale high.

as a seventeen year old girl, i absolutely love children. i work with my mom sometimes at her daycare after school and on the weekends and i love it. i have so much fun introducing myself to the new kids and just hanging out and singing old school songs with them, but the thing i despite the most about working at a daycare is putting the kids to sleep. it would usually take me, my mother and my best friend, evelyn, thirty or around forty-five minutes to put them to sleep.

oh, yeah. let me tell you a little bit about my best friend, evelyn, but everyone calls her evie. she has long black hair and dark chocolate eyes. she's half hawaiin and half filipino. she's the best friend anyone could ask for.

she's a grade higher, but we're the same age. why? she's too smart. like really really smart. she knows how to fluently speak 6 languages; spanish, english, french, mandarin, italian and tagalog. i know right. she also started learning how to read and play the guitar at 3 years old. last but not least, she's a bookworm.

i know what you're thinking, what's the problem with being glued to books? i gotta say, i love reading books. like actual books with romance and comedy, but not evelyn. she reads textbooks. if there's one person in the world that reads full textbooks that would be evie.

just cause she's smart doesn't mean she's living under a rock. she's also the baddest. she loves going to parties. every time someone mentions the word 'party' then she's in. trust me.

evie also goes to the college i have applied for, university of miami. did i tell you i got in? if not, then i did. i just found out about forty five minutes ago. i am so pleased i got in, but i'm pretty bummed i have to leave my parents to go somewhere else far away from home.

a/n; i changed her college from ucla to university of miami

i just finished buying my tickets for my flight to miami and it's one way. i'm so excited to go to miami. there are palm trees there and i have never seen or touched one in real life. there are no palm trees here in new jersey, mostly because it snows here and they don't survive in the cold.

i look over at my alarm clock and read 8:55 am. i sigh, pushing myself up from my bed as i used my weight.

"bye, mom. i'll see you later." i say, giving my mom a quick kiss on the cheek.

"i'm so happy for you, skylar. you make me so proud. you're growing up so fast." she responds. i could almost see a tear slipping down her cheeks, but she tries to hold it back.

"mom, stop it." i say a little embarrassed even though no one else is here. "don't cry." i say sincerely, pointing a finger at her, playfully.

"okay, i guess i'm being pretty ridiculous. oh, and ally, your cousin, asked me to ask you if you wanted to help out at the 'sonic boom' with a few of her friends austin, trish and dez when you arrive in florida." she replies.

a/n; only austin and ally fans will understand.

"yeah, sure. definitely." i grin. i'm so excited to see ally and uncle lester again. it's been two years since they came to visit me and my parents here in new jersey. i'm finally gonna spend more time with them. "alright, i'll see you later." i smile, sliding my vans on and making my way out of the door. i close my eyes and sigh peacefully from the bright breeze that just hit me.

i start walking over to my bus stop that takes around two minutes to arrive at. did i mention jordan is in my bus? the best part is that he's in my bus stop which means we get to stand there for a few minutes straight as we wait for the bus to come. pretty awkward, huh?

i squint my eyes, even though i have good eye sight, to see if jordan is already there waiting at the bus stop. there he is, standing there with his eyes glued to his phone. jordan is the most popular guy in school. he's genuinely hot and kind. he's just so dreamy. he's not the kind of player that everyone has at their schools. jordan is sweet and actually cares about girls' feelings.

a close friend of mine, hailey, told me he gave me small looks a few times. hailey is my friend who i started hanging out with in the beginning of senior year when evelyn left for college. she saw that i was alone, so she came over to me and we started talking. we've become very close friends now. too bad she's not going to the same college as me.

i stand by the bus stop and wait for the bus as well with jordan by my side still not noticing my presence. i grab my phone and start scrolling down instagram like him. what? i'm supposed to do something too, you know? i can't just stand there awkwardly waiting for the bus with nothing to do while he's living his life on insta.

"nice phone." jordan chuckles, huskily.

"pardon?" i reply.

"nothing." he chuckles.

"okay..."

"do you wanna go to prom with me?" he asks, casually not giving a damn about what he just said.

is this really happening? did my crush just asked me to prom? nono, i don't believe it. i am dreaming, right? someone pinch me.

"ow!" i exclaim. yeah, i am totally not dreaming. thanks, stupid bee.

"you're michael jackson now?" he chuckles. back at it again with that chuckle, making me melt slowly with that charming smile of his.

"n-no. a bee just stung me." i respond not wanting to lock eyes with him. i could feel his eyes on me.

"yes or no?" he questions.

"what?" i respond, playing dumb.

"will you go to prom with me?"

"um, uh. um.. prom is still exactly a month away." i stutter.

"great. well, here's your ticket." he smiles, handing me my ticket. i look down at the rectangular paper and the theme is 'le clair de lune'. i'm guessing it's based off in paris, cause it's in french and there's a eiffel tower.

"oh, um. you didn't have to get me tickets. i could've gotten them myself." i state, trying to be understanding as possible.

"yeah, i know, but the tickets were selling out like crazy. so, surprise." he beams. there it goes again. i'm melting again.

"thank you so much." i say, sincerely. "i owe you." i add.

"nah, it's fine. really, it's nothing."

"right." i chuckle, awkwardly. i almost forgot. his parents are filthy rich. i don't owe him.

at least i don't owe him money.

the bus finally arrives and i get in first with jordan and the other students in my school following behind. i sit at my usual seat alone in the middle of the bus while jordan sat in the back with his soccer teammates, saluting them with a bro handshake. they were the loudest in the bus, so i decided to put my earphones on.

'there's nothing holding me back' by shawn mendes came on.

"i wanna follow where she goes, i think about her and she knows it"

ugh. his voice is just so raspy in this song. i love it. he's such a handsome and successful young man. i knew him since he joined magcon. i loved cameron dallas back then, but then when shawn joined the group, i left cam for shawn. sorry, cam. shawn is like my dream husband. i can imagine myself with him, riding golf carts around the mall of miami as we get chased by cops.

too bad it's only in my dreams.
