skylar's pov

"sky, wake up. your flight is in three hours and you still have to get passed security. plus, the airport is always traffic." dad states and i groan, slamming one of my pillows over my face. "okay, i guess we'll have to tell evelyn that she won't be picking you up from the airport anymore." he adds, teasingly and walks away, whistling a tune.

"evie." i whisper to myself and i smile. "no! no! i'll be ready in thirty minutes." i spoke, pushing myself off my bed.

i sigh, looking around my room. it was sort of empty, but most of my things are still here. i just brought my important things i really needed.

my closet was empty, so i had to get one of my suitcases to choose an outfit.

i went with a white t-shirt and my favorite blue denim overalls. i grab my brush from my bedside table and start mopping my hair with it. i gather all my hairs together and pull it into a ponytail. i take a few baby hairs out, making my way to the bathroom. i brush my teeth and clean my face as well. i wipe my wet face with a towel and stand like a soldier to mark that i'm ready to go.

"mom! dad! i'm ready to go!" i shout, slightly and march down the steps. i hold onto my suitcase and swing my backpack over my shoulders. i hear my dad grab his car keys and i promenade over to the doorway to slip my shoes on.

"ready to go, sweetheart?" dad asks.

"yup." i grin tightly. simba barks and runs over to me. she starts licking my nose like always. "i'm gonna miss you. simba." i sigh. "i'll see you soon. love you." i smile and ruffle up her fur. i give her one last kiss on her head and step out of the house.

i'm really gonna miss simba. she was always there for me in my hardest times and she always found a way to cheer me up. she was always positive, but sometimes she could be pretty annoying. example, she keeps taking up all the space in my bed which leaves me sleeping on the edge of my small bed.

my dad opens up the trunk of the car and places my suitcases inside as i got in the backseat, followed by my mom and dad who sat in front.

we drove away and the sight of my house became smaller and smaller. the airport is about 30 minutes away from home, but i don't mind. i love driving to the airport, cause during the ride, i always get to see an incredible view of the beach and the high mountains which i absolutely love, cause nature is my best friend.

we finally made it to the airport which is always traffic. airport traffic sucks, but it's not as bad as los angeles traffic. trust me, i've been there and i don't wanna go back.

my dad found a parking spot that isn't too far from the entrance. i enter the airport with my parents and we say our goodbyes.

"well, this is it." i sigh and smile. "i'm really gonna miss you guys." i continue, trying my best not to let my tears out.

"we're gonna miss you, honey. but you're moving onto the next stage of life. me and your father are so happy for you." mom chuckles as she starts sobbing, quietly.

i give them both a hug which lasted forever. all three of us finally pull away with tears leaving our eyes.

"i'll see you guys very soon. i'll be back for thanksgiving, remember?"

"yes, but you're gonna be very far away." mom replies.

"yes, but i'm always here. we'll facetime each other." i retort.

"you know i still don't know how to work all of those things." mom rolls her eyes, playfully.

i laugh and spoke again. "ask harvey."
