To keep Achilles from going to fight in the Trojan war, the demigod's mother dressed him up as a woman and sent him to live on the island of Sycros which was ruled by King Lycomedes. There, Achilles became one of princess Deidameia's ladies in waiting. Achilles also became a dancer for the princess. He and the other ladies in waiting danced with her to entertain any guests that happened to stop by the palace as well as the king himself. There, nobody knew Achilles was a young man. Everyone saw him as a woman. And he made a very beautiful woman.
