I had just finsished packing the rest of my things into my suitcase. Just less than a month ago, I finally gathered enought courage to finally move out of the house. I hated my college, I hated my friends, I hated my life. Everyday when I wake up I feel like something or someone is missing. I feel like I need to find that thing. I decided to switch things up, and start a new life in Colorado.
As expected, you are all probably wondering, " Colorado? Girl of all places, why not somewhere popular like New York or California?" Well, I hate to be a buzzkill on anyone's perspectives, but I've always preferred the wilderness. The city is honestly the worst thing to ever come into existance, sorry not sorry. To be honest thought, I don't know exactly why Colorado in specific. I dont know, something just calls me to there.
I placed the last shirt into my fire red suitcase, closed it up, and took one last look at my room. For 19 years I called this room home. I felt glad that I would finally be leaving it.
I made my way downstairs and was instasntly approached by my mother with a concerning look in her eyes.
"Starcasia sweetie, think through this one more time please darling," my dear and caring mother said to me in a begging tone.
My mother has been pestering me about reconsidering packing my bags and heading to the overlooked state of Colorodo, but my mind has been set.
"Mom I know you're worried for me, but don't worry everything will be fine, this is what I want," I told her in a calming tone.
"Honey you are the most responsible and mature person I know, I'm worried for myself not for you, how will I ever manage without you?", she said chucking.
"Oh would you relax, you'll be fine trust me, I'll come visit a lot I promise," I told her trying to calm her state.
I lied, as much as I care for her my desire to return home even just to visit, disturbed me.
She looked at me with an assuring smile, " Alright honey I give up, I know there's no changing your mind anymore but I want you to know if your new life does not work out, you're always welcome back home, always."
I stared at her with a motivated glean in my eyes, "Trust me mother, I won't be returning anytime soon."
Wishing my mother a blessful farewell, I got into my car and stared at my worn down house.
Next stop, Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
*TWO DAYS LATER*
Finally, I had made it. I stopped my car onto the side of the road and stared out into the new place I would call my home. Glenwood Springs was the definition of perfect. Ahead of me I saw hills and hills of mountains and woods. The place was completely covered with miles and miles of tall, strong trees. I was instantly drawn into the forest. It was extremely alluring, and I couldn't wait to go explore.
However first things first, I needed to go unpack and set up my new house. My father had left me a considerable amount of money before he died, so I decided to use it to buy myself a small cottage right on the edge of the woods. It was quint and only a few miles from the main part of the town.
The previous owner had shipped the keys to my house, and I had a moving truck arranged to arrive a few days beforehand, so everything had been set up accordingly.
I got back into my car and continuted the drive to my new life. After around 15 minutes I had arrived. I got out of the car, and stared at the cottage in awe.
"I am utterly in love," I thought to myself in admiration.
The cottage was absolutely perfect. It was the perfect size for me, and looked almost brand new. The previous owners has been an old couple who decided to move to a less secluded area. Personally, I cannot understand why anyone would ever want to do that, but to each their own I guess.
I walked in and stared at the place in awe. I paid the moving truck workers extra to set up my furniture, and they did an amazing job. I loved everything. As soon as you walk into the cottage, you see the cozy living room to the left, and a neat kitchen to the right. There is bathroom in the back, and a ladder that leads up to the bedroom. Upstairs, my bed was placed to the right, and my desk to the left.
I spent a few hours unpacking all my things, and making sure everything was perfect.
After everything was done, I quickly made some ramen noodles, ate, and was read to hit the sack after such a long and gruesome trip.
As I was almost on the brink of unconsciousness, I heard a faint howl from deep inside the forest.
"Huh, I thought there weren't any wild wolves left in Colorado," I thought to myself in wonder.
