Prolouge

Prologue

My parents pull into the driveway of our new house. I open my door and step out of the car to see a cute, old log cabin. I walk around the cabin to find a garden behind it. There's an old, stone fountain and a path to the forest. I shout to my parents that I'm going into the forest. They reply back,

"Don't be gone for more than a couple hours! We still have to unpack and get the house cleaned up!"

I smile and take off running. As I'm running, I see some wolves following me. I stop and so do they. The biggest wolf; I'm assuming the Alpha; walks up to me and circles me, all the while sniffing me. He stops in front of my face, steps forward, and licks it. I release the breath I didn't realize I was holding. I laugh and pet his head. The younger wolves and pups come up to me and sit on my lap. I'm now surrounded by them. All of a sudden the Alpha and his mate walk in front of me and growl. I look around, but see nothing. Then I hear laughter. I stand up and look around. I don't see anything! I feel a nudge behind me and I see all the female wolves surrounding the pups, protecting them. The Luna gives me a sad look. I walk up to her and rub her head. I must sound crazy to you, but it's like I could understand her. I smile at her and say,

"It's going to be ok. I won't let anything happen to the pups or you."

I kneel down and grab the four pups. Some of the females come with me. We take off running to the East. While we are running, something zooms past us. We skid to a stop and take off running to the North. I can hear laughter again. We start running even faster when something runs in front of me and throws me into the air. Before I hit the ground, I turn so the pups don't get hurt. When I hit the ground, my head bounces off a rock. The wolves come over and start whimpering. I reach my hand out and drop it. It hurts to much to move. I pull the pups closer to my chest and snuggle up to them. They lick my face and I smile. All of a sudden, I'm ripped off the ground by my hair. I scream and claw at the hand. The wolves start barking and growing at the figure. The figure throws me at a tree. It snaps in half and I slump to the ground. The thing laughs and walks over to me. I try to get up, but my head starts to spin and my legs buckle under my weight. I see out of the corner of my eye that the female wolves are slowly creeping up behind the creature. They jump at it and knock it over. I get up again and take off running in the direction of the other animals. I trip over a tree root and hit my head again. I put my hand to my head and pull it back. It's covered in blood! I start to feel queasy. I get up and start stumbling around, while clutching my head. I make it to an open field when I collapse. I turn onto my back. I look to my left to see vampires. WAIT! WHAT! I sit up and scream. I get up and start running to the right, only to stop short. Wolves the sizes of trucks come running out of the forest. I  drop to the ground in shock. I curl up into a ball and start whimpering. I can feel the vampires and wolves staring at me. Next thing I know one of the vampires is biting my arm. I start crying and hyperventilating. The bite stings and burns. I don't know what the vampire did, but it seems to have trigger something because both sides charge at each other. Four of the wolves, I'm assuming Alphas, come running towards me. They rip the vampire off me and tear it apart. Just seeing that happen in front of me is very unsettling. I don't know if I'm next.
