Chapter Two
Wittendale High is a prestigious academy and blah, blah, blah, you know the deal. A school full of stuck up kids who complain every time their Ferrari won't start.
Through all of the snobs, there is my best friend Alicia. Alicia and I have been friends since Kindergarten. We just met the first day and decided to be friends, and we are still friends to this day. Alicia was black like me but, she had olive colored skin and her hair was tightly braided into intricate cornrows. She had a really bubbly personality with a smile always plastered on her face.
"What are those burns, G ?" Alicia said reaching out for my arms. I quickly snatched my arm away
"I fell down some stairs, it's nothing." I replied.
"We better get to class or Mr. Dino will kill us." Alicia said playfully tugging my arm .
We just made it just before the bell rang. I slid into my seat and saw
who was sitting by me, Satan himself: Leo.
"Alright class, I know this is a little random but, we're going to be doing a project on perceptions of beauty in different cultures." Mr. Dino,my history teacher said.
Mr.Dino was sort of a hippie and always talked about saving the environment and equality. Almost every girl 10th grade has major crush on him. The way his blonde hair swept over his eyes when he spoke, melted my heart. He was in his mid-twenties , and he was white when he got mad you wouldn't want to be in his way.
"You won't be working on your own", Mr.Dino said smiling mischeviously at us, "I'm picking your partners." Everyone groaned.
As he was reading off the partner list, I had a mini heart attack when he said, "Georgia Geist and Leo Thomas." Leo flashed a toothy grin at me.
"How's it going, Blackie?" Leo cackled pulling up a chair to my desk.
Leo has taunted me ever since 5th grade. He calls me Blackie, tarbaby, and charcoal queen. His parents are both doctors and they live in a huge mansion, with armed security. He even looks like a bully. He is famous for his evil grin, that looks like one of those creepy kids in horror movies. He was also black and his skin wasn't much lighter than mine, one shade to be exact.
All of a sudden a boy who I haven't seen before approached Leo and said ,"Shut the hell up, bro." The whole room went silent, everyone waited for Leo's comeback.
"I don't think I heard you," Leo said cupping his hand on his ear,"say it again."
I just sat there dumbfounded and excited at the same time. Somebody actually stood up for me. I looked back at Alicia she was covering a laugh.
"Boys, enough," Mr.Dino said sternly,"both of you to the office."
Everyone oohed as they took the "walk of shame" to the Mr.P's office.
"Good luck." One boy mouthed to the mystery kid.
The mystery kid smiled at me as he walked out.
"Thanks." I whispered.
*Comment,I love criticism!!* :)
