'Purple Diamond pov.'
"Does your Pearl always walk next to you?" Holly Blue asks as we move swiftly down the hallway."I'll just be...right here." Pearl chuckles nervously as she backs up.
"Hmm. Chatty." Holly Blue mutters. Pearl blushes and I give her a wide eyed look.
"This facility originally belonged to Pink Diamond and houses and staffs the otherwise useless quartzes she produced of what was her colony. But Blue Diamond and her trusted Agate, that's me, have been maintaining this place since the dawn of era 2." As Holly Blue rambles on I grab Pearls elbow.
"You have to open the door. Like this." I whisper as I show her how to move her fingers. She approaches the door under Holly Blue's watchful gaze and opens it slowly.
"That will be all." The stuffy Agate says with a wave of her hand. Pearl fumes silently and I pat her shoulder. On the other side of the door a blue gem with shoulder length hair is waiting.
"Ah, Ringwoodite, there you are. Ringwoodite is our human expert." Holly Blue says as she gestures to the gem. I freeze and look at her. Ringwoodite was always tasked with entertaining me when Blue brought me here. In the past she was peppy and giggly but now she seems somber. Her eyes are dull and she keeps tapping her gem nervously. Her eyes land on me and she jolts. I shake my head and she wrings her hands together. Holly Blue ignores our exchange and moves on. She touches a panel on the wall and the floor beneath us becomes clear.
"The bottom half of this structure is devoted entirely to specimen containment. Apparently humans don't take well to captivity." Holly Blue says with a roll of her eyes.
"Humans are sensitive Holly." Ringwoodite huffs with a sour look.
"Yes, well, it's simply tragic that Pink Diamonds existence ended up being so finite. What a selfless act for Blue Diamond to step up and spend her own time and energy preserving this place in Pink Diamonds memory." As Holly Blue continues spewing shit, Ruby growls silently.
"Hold it together." I hiss at her.
"And here of course is the human disposal shoot." Holly Blue sings.
"Wh- How do you get in the zoo?" Steven shouts.
"Oh there it goes again, with its hilarious noises." Holly Blue says agitatedly. I frown and resist the urge to punch her.
"So...how do you get in the Zoo?" Sapphire asks.
"Excellent question your grand clarity! On the rare occasion that we would need to enter the containment area, we would do so via this service door."
"Dad...that door's how we get to dad. We just need to come up with a distraction." Steven whispers.
"As a one way access point there are no risks of an escape, in fact it's only been used once for a human-"
"Explosion!" Ruby screams.
"Pardon me?" Holly Blue growls.
"I just remembered I left the gravity engine idling! I'm sorry my Sapphire, I'm so forgetful and disposable." Ruby mutters while she sweats nervously.
"What? A foreseen turn of events! Yes, it is going to overheat and explode. The damage will be massive." Sapphire covers.
"My word! I don't know why anyone trusts Rubies with those ships, this is what happens!" Holly Blue sighs.
"If we hurry, we can disable the engine before any damage is done. It should only take 5 minutes, so everyone be on your best behavior." Sapphire says before giving us a wink. Holly Blue leads her away and I turn to Ringwoodite.
"My Diamond! My Diamond you're not shattered." She whispers as she gazes at me.
"Ringwoodite, we need your help. We're here to rescue the human that arrived yesterday as well as any gems that wish to flee from the Diamond Authority." I tell her quickly.
"Of course! The Amethysts and beta gems should agree easily enough. The humans I understand wouldn't survive on Earth now but the ship is fully automated so it's not like they really need gems here." She says as she rubs her chin.
"So how do we open the door?" Pearl asks as she gestures to the control panels. Ringwoodite jumps and slaps her forehead.
"I'm such a clod! The doors only open when the humans are in distress!" She hisses.
"What about dad?" Steven whimpers.
"Don't worry my little gem, we'll get him. Here's the plan." I start whispering my plan.
"I really have to go down that thing?" Steven whispers.
"Not to worry! It's completely safe. Once you get inside the Zoo it should be easy enough to find your 'Greg'." Ringwoodite says with a smile.
"I'm so glad we're almost back! I was really enjoying the tour!" Sapphire shouts from down the hall. We squeak and try to pose naturally.
"You're too gracious my clarity. Now then, shall we-"
"Holly Blue Agate! We have important news for you!" Two Amethysts shout as they run up.
"We do not run or SHOUT IN THESE HALLWAYS!" Holly Blue shouts.
"I-i'm sorry it's just that-"
"How am I supposed to know what you're saying when you're mumbling?" Holly Blue snaps.
"Uhhh, I'm sorry Holly Blue Agate it's just-"
"Blue Diamond is on her way!" We all gasp and I squeak. Holly Blue starts freaking out and I pull on my hair.
"Oh my stars! You two, take this human to the assimilation bay! My grand clarity, if you'll follow me we can prepare for our Diamond's arrival. I'm sure she'll want to thank you personally." Holly Blue says excitedly as the two Amethysts take Steven. I watch him go with wide eyes. He can do it. I believe in him. We follow Holly Blue and I feel fear. Pearl puts a hand on my shoulder and gives me an encouraging look. Holly Blue leads us to a room and I freeze.
"This was my room." I whisper.
"Please rest here my Clarity. I have to prepare everything for our Diamond's arrival." Holly Blue says before bowing and exiting the room.
"Are you alright my Diamond?" Ringwoodite asks as the others stare at me.
"I'm fine, just thinking about my sister who didn't stop our other sister's who tried to kill me." I say with a a stressed laugh. They all give me wary looks and I deflate.
"I'm gonna go lie down."
