Broken and Tired

Farkle was finally out of the hospital and enjoying a refreshing smoothie.

Riley walked into Topanga's and smiled. "Farkle? You're out?!"

He glanced over then he looked back down at his smoothie.

Lucas came in and stood beside Riley. "Hey, I'm gonna meet Zay at the train- Farkle? You got released already?" He asked.

Farkle sighed. "Yeah, I got to go home last night." He stated not looking at them. "I don't really-"

"Why didn't you call me or come over so I could see you?" Riley asked interrupting him.

He sighed again. "I need a break."

Maya walked over to Farkle with a smile on her face and a smoothie in her hand, but it vanished when she saw Riley and Lucas standing there.

Farkle scooted over so Maya could sit even though he didn't want to be that close to them.

Maya sat down. "I thought we were gonna take a break." She whispered into his ear.

"We are, but we have to tell them first. I was just about to."

Maya nodded.

Farkle cleared his throat, then he took a deep breath and looked over at them. "We need a break."

Riley frowned. "From me?"

Maya slurpped from her straw.

"From both of you." Farkle stated.

Lucas frowned too. "Why?"

Farkle sighed. "Our feelings are out of control right now, you two are not helping, so we would like to take a break from you. Please understand." Farkle begged looking up at Riley's brown eyes.

She sniffed and nodded. "I do."

Lucas swallowed the lump forming in his throat. "Just tell me one thing first, please. Do you love Maya? Is that why you're pushing Riley and I so much?"

Riley glanced at Lucas then she looked back to Farkle and he saw her frowning. He frowned too.

He hated seeing Riley upset. He tore his eyes away and looked over at Maya. She was clearly pretending to be somewhere else, maybe on a beach, because she looked uncomfortable, but also very relaxed.

"Of course I love Maya, and I love Riley. Both the same. I wasn't trying to push you. I just wanted Riley to be honest with you and Maya, but now I just want Maya to okay again. So we need to take a break. I'm sorry, but go away."

Lucas took a deep breath. He looked from Maya to Riley and then back at Maya. "If you need a break I'll leave you alone, but I choose you. I just want you to know that. When you're ready I'll be waiting for you, Maya." He said then he walked out.

Riley sniffed again. "Well, um, when you guys are done with your break, uh, the bay window is always there for you." She tried to sound happy, but they could hear how hurt she was.

She took a deep breath then she walked out leaving them alone.

"Did you hear that?" Farkle said giving Maya a small smile.

"How hurt Riley was because I stole her guy? Yeah, I heard."

"No. Lucas chose you. I was wrong, Maya. Just because he never stated how he felt about you doesn't mean that he doesn't have feelings for you. I'm sorry."

Maya sighed. "All I heard was Riley's heart breaking and it's all my fault." She choked out.

Farkle put his arm around her and she leaned her head onto his shoulder. "I want you to be okay again Maya. I'm so sorry."

Maya sighed. "It's not your fault. I was never okay. I was always broken." She cried against him.

Farkle remembered that just last week Riley was crying against him and now Maya was. He hated when they cried. He was tired of growing up and having feelings develop. He was tired of all the drama that their lives were becoming. He was tired of his two best friends being hurt. He was just so tired anymore, but he couldn't sleep anymore either.
