black lightning

My sister and I were walking back from the gas station. It was a beautiful dark night, with bright stars, and a Cheshire cat moon. The store wasn't very far from our house, just a walk down the hill.

We were skipping along singing together and laughing. That is until the sky flashes a fiery orange. We stood stock still wondering what was happening.
Out of nowhere, a flash of black electricity strikes the ground below a hill in front of us.

We ran as fast as our short legs could carry us until we reached the house. Slamming the trailer door shut, we rushed out an explanation of what we just witnessed.
Our second oldest brother steps out onto the porch and notices what was going on. Red smoke covered the sky and black lightning struck everywhere all the way to the ground. The smell was of burning flesh, making our eyes water and our stomaches churn.

Without a moment's hesitation, our mom and dad grab our bookbags, emptying them they make haste to fill them with things like food, water, medical supplies, and a change of clothes. They rush us to the door telling us. "Go to someone with a car, have them take you to the next town and find shelter that has food supplies.
With one final hug and kiss, we leave, running for our friends down the drive way.

After asking for a ride they tell us the car is already full and we can't come with them. So we rush to the next house we know. The house was now empty.
With a huff of fear and frustration, I rushed to a lit house that obviously we didn't know the inhabitants of. We knocked and a middle aged man answered. With Surprise written on his face he calls us in and calls for a girl. And to our surprise, it was a friend from school.
She looked at us with confusion written on her face and sat on the couch. "We need to get out of this town. Now! We need to find food and shelter from whatever is coming!" I stated in a rush out of fear.
My sister points out the window towards the black lightning that repeatedly struck the hill. A majorly loud roar of thunder shook the earth and the middle aged man grabbed his car keys and his daughter ran to the door.
We drove for a while until we came up on a grocery store. Getting out, we all four ran in and packed everything we could into one cart: food, first aid kit supplies, batteries, etc.

We were heading back to the house to get the rest of our family when the sky suddenly went quiet.
We walked slowly up the porch, watching the sky in awe and fear. It was a dark blue, and it's stars were literally dancing across the sky so close to earth. It made different shapes, exploded like fireworks, and made clouds of sparkly fumes.
Our family came out quickly and pulled us along. We weren't paying very much attention as the sky became dark red again but it burned hotter, roared louder, and we feared nothing but the worst. Sirens began blaring across Rowan, screams eliciting more fear than I could ever imagine from me.

Then I woke up...

AN: this kept me up all night thinking because it freaked the crap out of me. 😆 Welp...till my next nightmare.
