A One in a Million Love

Chapter 74

Ali went down to the spa area with CoCo and Jane to get manicures; all the sand and salt water had ruined the one Ali had done for the wedding. The three ladies sat and relaxed in the comfy chairs, just talking and laughing. Jane was a nice lady and had a great sense of humor. They went and had lunch after then went up to their rooms until it was time to go to the theater. The five men went out and played a round of golf.

Tommy found Ali asleep on the bed. He knew that all the traveling was catching up with her and he just wanted to take her home and get them settled before the baby came. He loved that they had talked about names and agreed on a couple of boy names and a couple of girl names, ready to pick the right one once they saw their baby.

He kissed her forehead and gently rubbed her belly before he went to shower. He thought about how great their life was going to be and wrote a little speech in his head just on the off chance that he won that night. He came out shaved and put on a pair of shorts to lounge around in until it was time to go. Ali woke up and they ordered dinner and ate it on the couch. She showered and dried her hair. She decided to put her hair in her favorite fishtail braid over one shoulder. She finished her makeup and came out with her dress unzipped.

"Honey can you zip me? And this is not a secret code for you to seduce me and make us late!"

He laughed as he came up and zipped her up and kissed her neck. She helped him straighten his tie, kissing his gently. She slipped on her shoes and touched up her lipstick and they went downstairs to wait for their car. They rode with Elliot, Jane, CoCo and Jeff, with Nigel and Ollie sharing a car with the others from their movie. The coupled rode to the theater, while discussing going out in a few weeks and Tommy inviting them to the pub any Friday night.

They arrived and sat in the line until it was their turn. They got out and followed the red carpet like they did two weeks before in London. The questions about their marriage and honeymoon were flying at Ali and Tommy but they did their best without giving away private moments. They made it through the line and went in to their seats.

The show was wonderful and they had a great time laughing with the famous comedian as the host. This show was longer than the BAFTA's so sitting was starting to ware on Ali a little. Finally some of the categories they were waiting for came up and Ali was on pins and needles. To their surprise Nigel and Ollie won again for set design. Ali was wondering if they were regretting ending their movie careers, but at the same time they were going out being on top.

The music, supporting actor and actress lost again. Ali felt bad for them, but they knew it was part of the business. Ali's category was up next and to her shock and awe, she won again. She walked up the stairs and was tearing up. She went up and looked out to see her husband and friends smiling back.

"Wow! I wasn't expecting this!! I am just shocked!" She took a deep breath and then continued, "I just want to say how happy my nephews are right now that I got to sit this close to Iron Man!" and the audience laughed.

She thanked everyone like did before and thought she was done and was going to end her acceptance speech until she saw Eleanor sitting out there with a scowl on her face. Ali had a feisty thought and added one more part.

"Last summer, I overheard someone saying how they were going to take away something that I love deeply in my life because they didn't think I deserved to have it. So being the feisty redhead that I am, I lipped off to them using a mean history reference," Ali saw Eleanor's scowl grow bigger but she also had a fear in her eyes that Ali would call her out by name, as she rubber her belly, "But I have just thing to say to that person...I win!!" And the audience clapped wildly and whistled after her last statement.
