~Leo~
After a week of taveling we finally made it back to Midgar and the Shinra building, our sanity somewhat intact. Leto seemed to be somewhat recovered, but by now I think I knew the girl could make a pretty good actress. As the past week went by we had learned more about eaother. She was an outcast. Like me. She revieled to me that, before she met the guys, she has never really spoken to anyone other than her mother. Has never had friends. It made me wonder, does she consider me a friend now?
Leto opened the door of the vehicle and jumped out stretching her limbs,"Ahh it's good to finally be back!" her hair band snapped, of course, something I learned happens often, she twitched and ignored the snap, just brushing her hair back lazily. The little chocobo chick followed close to Leto's leg looking around at the strange place before Leto picked it up, cooing nonsense at it.
I gestured to Zeno,"Go tell the MRD about Carmine okay?"
Zeno saluted,"Yes sir." he then walked toward the Shinra building, rather indifferently. He may have been glad to be back, but he wasn't going to show it.
I started walking toward the Shinra building then gestured to Leto,"Come on we need to drop the bird off at the barracks then get up to the breifing room." leto followed quickly after me cooing to Mimi and rubbing it's head. I rolled my eyes and continued to walk.
We managed to get up to the barracks without anybody making a fuss about the chocobo, it seemed no one was home. Leto set it gently on her bed and fed it puffy cheetos, we learned Mimi loved alot. The bird was now twice the size it was originally, but I had a feeling that the growths spurt had ended. After leaving the light on and closing the door carefully she finally followed me to the breifing room.
~Le time skip!~
We were in the briefing room I was explaining what had happened, rather quickly, only letting him know the important details, while Leto walked around the room basically ignoring the conversation, avoiding eye contact and seeming to be lost in her own little world. She was probably embarrassed about the whole event. I chose to leave her alone about it.
"Yes sir the reactor was fine it sustained no damage but we did lose Gunnery Solider second class Carmine sir." I stated, holding back my emotions. Carmine was a nice kid, I would send a personalized letter to his family, although that would not be enough to ease the pain, his family also would recieve compencation for his death, around 150,000 gil.
The man in the suit looked impassive at that, we both noticed Leto's motionless as I told him how, I frowned as her fists tightened, she was still not okay with it. "It was a sad loss but he did it while standing his ground."
I nodded in agreement,"Yes he did sir."
The director nodded then asked,"Is there anything else?"
I shook my head,"That is all sir."
He nodded once again,"Very well you're dismissed take a break we might need you again soon."
I nodded then saluted the Director agai then walked out of the room Leto walked quickly behind me before tossing a salute to the Director. While in the elevator, I noticed Leto's foot bouncing and a slight bit of excitement in her eyes as we neared the barracks. After a quick ride to our quarters, we stepped into the cool apartment, I jumped over the couch and sighed, begining to relax as Leto ran around, peaking in everyones room, shivering slightly for a reason I'd rather not know when she got to Genesis's room.
Nobody was home,"Looks like they're all on missions.." said Leto her voice sounding...dissapointed.
I forced a smile at her,"I'm sure they'll be back soon."
