5) VARICOSE VEINS:-

More commonly known a 'Spider Veins' due

to their un-sightly, 'web-like' appearance, are abnormally

large veins that appear close to the surface of the skin. They

occur usually in the calves and thighs, and is the result

of malfunctioning valves inside the veins. Valves, when

healthy and functioning normally, prevent blood from

pooling and pumped back to the heart. When this does not

happen, varicose veins can be the result.

diet:- You want a diet low in fat and carbohydrates, as well as

balanced with fish, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Blackberries and cherries help to prevent them as well.

Include ginger, onions, garlic, cayenne pepper, sunflower

seeds, pumpkin seeds, ginko biloba, oranges and pineapple

in your diet. High fibre diet. Stay away from sugar,

ice-cream, fried foods, peanuts, junk foods, cheese,

tobacco, salt, alchohol, animal protein, and processed/

refined foods. The more cholesterol in your diet, the

more they declog the arterial walls, decreasing proper

circulation which causes varicose veins.

remedies:- Exercise helps to boost your circulation. Do this daily.

Avoid tight-fitting clothing which restricts circulation.

(The only exception being to wear compression stockings

which help to push blood out of the veins in your legs,

and back to your heart.) Elevate your legs above your

heart level at least once per day for twenty minutes,

which aids in proper circulation. (You can do this by

lying down with your back flat on the bed, and placing

pillows under your legs to elevate them about 1 foot off

the bed. Here, you are letting gravity do the work that

the valves in your veins should be doing, which is

getting the blood pumped back to your heart.

Avoid putting unnecessary pressure on the legs which comes

from doing any of the following for too long: standing,

sitting, crossing your legs, or lifting heavy objects.

(Pressre reduces circulation.)

The skin directly above the site of vericose veins can

become itchy, and the temptation is to scratch the area.
