Connor's eyes met my own, words cut short, breathing hitched. "Oh, what could it be, now?" I could tell his tone was to keep everyone calm. As his hands went on his hips, he marched outside. Quickly, I followed him to see a young woman on the ground, bruises all over.
Connor dashed to her side, helping her up. As I had swiftly ran to his side prior, the woman jumped behind me, obviously weary of her surroundings.
"Are you okay?" Chris questioned, putting his hand on her shoulder. "N-no, I am not. This evil man is running after me.." She cried out, obvious she was out of breath.
"It's going to be alright. What's your name?" I questioned her, releasing her grasp behind my back. She looked around her, I can only guess because she has trust issues. "Nabalungi, sir," Nabalungi answered, feeling a bit more comfortable. "Why don't we go inside and call the police? And then, we can just pray to God we can get you to safety.." I remarked, slightly chuckling, guiding her inside.
"God," she slightly repeated, sitting on the couch. "Well, of course. You know God, right?" I asked her, ordering Chris to go get a cup of water. He nodded, dashing to the kitchen.
Connor grabbed the house phone which laid next to the couch, sitting on the said couch next to Nabalungi. He dialed 911, the police offering to send out a report to find her home.
"I'm not from around here. I came from different country, and this mean General smuggled me over here illegally. Can you please help me home? This place is different.. Too different!" She began to cry, face in hands.
"We're your friends now, so trust us, okay? Let's say a prayer.." Kevin suggested, kneeling beside Naba, the holding her hands in his, saying a prayer.
"I'm back," Chris entered, a bag filled with groceries. "Oh, my gosh. What's happening? Who is this?" He ran over to the couch, jumping over it, sitting next to Nabulungi.
Elder Schrader laid on the floor, watching in curiosity.
