The Enchanted Forest 28 Years ago..

The castle that holds Snow White and Prince Charming is huge. A pregnant Snow is standing near the balcony.

"What's wrong?" Charming asks her.

"Nothing." Snow replies.

"You're thinking about what the Queen said again, aren't you? Snow, please. I can't keep having this conversation. You have to let this go. We're about to have a baby."

Snow turns to him and shakes her head, "I haven't had a restful night since our wedding."

She walks toward him and he wraps his arms around her. "That's what she wants—to get in your head. But they're only words. She can't hurt us."

"She poisoned an apple because she though I was prettier than her. You have no idea what she's capable of." She looks into Charming's eyes.

"What can I do to ease your mind?"

"Let me talk to him."

"Him? You don't mean.."

Snow nods, "I do."

"No, no, no. It's too dangerous." Charming shakes his head and grabs his wife's arm as she walks past him. "He sees the future." Snow said calmly.

"There's a reason he's locked up."

"Can you promise me our child will be safe? Can you guarantee it? Because he can." Snow says anxiously. She wants to know what will happen. Will the Evil Queen take their child?

Charming sighs, "alright for our child."

Back in Boston. Present Day.

I am driving the yellow convertible on the highway to Maine. Emma looks at me, "I'm hungry, can we stop somewhere?"

I shake my head as I looks at the girl. "This is not a road trip. We are not stopping for snacks."

Emma whines, "Why not?"

I sigh softly, "stop complaining kid. Remember— I could have put your butt on a bus. I still could."

"You know I have a name? It's Emma."

She opens a book and reads.

"What's that?" I ask.

"I'm not sure you're ready."

"I'm not ready for some fairy tails?"

"They're not fairy tails." Emma looks at me, "They're true. Every story in this book actually happened."

"Of course they did." I roll my eyes.

"Use your superpower. See if I'm lying."

"Just because you believe something, doesn't make it true."

"That's exactly what makes it true. You should know that more than anyone."

I look back over at the girl with furrowed brows. "Why's that?"

"Because you're in this book."

"Oh, kid. You've got problems."

"Yep. And your going to fix them." Emma smiles as she continues to look through her book. I shake my head as I think through our conversation. She's just a kid, I think to myself.
