Aidan hope caster knows the fences that keep out the nightmarish creatures that over ran the earth won't hold much longer. She's smarter then most adults who have been lulled into a false sense of safeness by the three chain link fences that surrounds the refuge city in what was California. From there is a wasteland full of blood thirsty creatures. After a hole in the fence grows large enough to let the demons through they don't hesitate. But Aidan is ready. With her two best friends Andy and Static they go armed into the wasteland to reclaim what was theirs. And meet some new friends.
