The week after I'd proposed, me and Eleanor went out shopping for an engagement ring.

"Look at this one!" Eleanor exclaimed, pointing her fingers towards a shimmering diamond ring in a shop window. Her face was glowing and her hair was fluttering in the breeze.

"They're all so beautiful, like you," I commented. I sorted my beanie and fringe before pulling Eleanor into the ring store with me.

Inside, there were plenty more sparkly diamonds to gawp at. Eleanor looked like she was truly an angel in heaven. I was glad that I'd made her happy, because she deserved to be happy. She was amazing and I would've bought her the whole store if I'd had to.

"There's so many to choose from!" She cooed. I nodded in agreement and watched as a salesman walked over to us.

"How may I help you wonderful people?" He asked. He eyed my gleaming fiancé.

"We're shopping for an engagement ring," I told him, grinning.

"Ah, I see. Congratulations. And are there any specific designs you would like?" He asked.

"Not really," Eleanor cut in. "As long as it feels special to me."

"And I'm guessing you want a diamond ring?"

"Yes," Eleanor said, her eyes twinkling.

"Then come this way!"

I told Eleanor that I'd wait on one of the seats while she chose and watched as she walked away with the store worker.

I looked around the room at all the different coloured rings and designs. Eleanor would soon have one of them on her slim finger, and then she'd be mine.

I got giddy at the thought, and when Eleanor came back with her chosen ring I barely looked at it before buying it. I had to live in the moment.

It was guaranteed that it was beautiful anyway, because it was chosen by the woman I loved. I had to trust her taste.

"That will be two thousand, one hundred and ninety nine pounds, sir," the man said. I took my credit card from out of my wallet and gave it to him, typing my pin code into the little device he was holding out.

Afterwards, he bagged the ring and gave me a receipt and my credit card before muttering another congratulations and saying goodbye.

"Thank you, goodbye!" Eleanor called as she cheerily walked out of the store. I opened the bag and took out the ring. Eleanor held out her finger for me as I slid the silver beauty onto her skin. It only added to her gorgeousness.

"It's perfect!" I said, kissing her hand.

"I know. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you so much Loo-Lee!"

"And I love you too... Now, shall we grab a coffee or head over to my grandmas?" I asked, smiling wide.

She replied with excitement still on her face. "Both!"

I smiled at her and linked my arms with hers as we walked towards the nearest Starbucks. I picked us both up both a frap and a doughnut and then we headed further into town so that we could visit my nan.

"Have you told her the news yet?" Eleanor asked.

"Nope. That's why I wanted to call in before we went home."

"I see, do you think she'll be excited?"

"Of course!" I replied, although I wasn't quite sure. My grandma wasn't the worlds biggest fan of mine and Eleanor's relationship, although El was oblivious.

We shortly neared my grandmothers house and I held Eleanor's arm as we walked up the stairs to the front door. All it took was two knocks before my frail old nan was opening the door in front of us.

"Hey Louis," she welcomed, smiling at the sight in front of her. I walked forward and pressed a kiss on each of her cheeks before rummaging in the Starbucks bag to present her the doughnut.

"For you, m'lady," I said, passing it to her. She peered into the bag and smiled at me before moving aside to let us in.

"Hello Eleanor," she called afterwards. Eleanor gave her a smile and walked into the living room with me. Me and my fiancé sat down as my grandma Joey walked in.

"So, what brings you here?" She asked, taking the doughnut from its packaging.

"We have news!" I said excitedly.

"What kind of news?"

"We're engaged! Eleanor gushed, cutting me out.

"Oh, my," my grandmother said, testing on the sofa. "What a... wonderful surprise!''

I smiled at her and stood up from the couch to put my Starbucks cup in her kitchen bin. I saw her move from her seat to follow me.

As soon as we got into the kitchen, she stopped me from walking and muttered my name.

"Yes?" I asked, turning to face her. I saw Eleanor from the door drinking her Starbucks and watching something on the TV.

"Are you sure about this whole thing?" She asked. I knew what she meant, and I knew that it was coming.

I sighed. "Yes, nan. I love her."

"That's what I'm afraid of," she tittered. I didn't really know what she meant, so I threw my cup into the bin and then made my way back into the living room to sit with Eleanor.

My nan sighed from the kitchen and turned to put the kettle on.

"You should go and help her," Eleanor muttered. I shrugged and got up once again before heading to the kitchen and getting out three cups.

"You know...." Nanna Joey started, "she's a lovely girl and all. But how do you know that she's really the one?"

I rubbed my forehead before gathering the milk and sugar. "What do you mean? Of course she's the one."

"But how do you know, child? She's the only person you've ever been with. There are billions more out there."

"I'm fine with Eleanor." I replied. And I meant it.
