Every single chance me and Eleanor had to make love after that, we took. We never used protection or anything because that was the point.
I'd noticed that within a month or so, Eleanor had started to get ill. She puked once and then started whining about headaches and craving. Obviously, I knew before her what it could be. There wasn't a doubt in my mind.
However, we had to be on the safe side, we had to make sure. I told her my suspicions and then one Thursday after work I went over to the pharmacy and bought a pregnancy test. Eleanor seemed worried but totally excited about it, and took it with her to the bathroom the next she needed to pee. My grandmas homemade cocktails helped a little with that.
When she emerged from the toilets her green eyes were glistening at me, and I felt my heart pound.
"Are you?" I asked.
"Yes!" She squealed. She ran towards me and wrapped me in a hug, showing me the stick in her hand.
It was positive, and I couldn't have been happier.
"We'll still have to do another one soon just in case," I reminded her.
"Of course. But Louis, we're finally parents!" She yelled.
I watched as she let go of my embrace and jumped around the room with a smile in her face.
"I have to call my mother, I'll be back," she said, kissing my cheek and going out into the hall.
I was amused to say the least.
Her calling her mum reminded me that I should probably tell my grandma Joey, even though my grandmother didn't have a phone and she wouldn't exactly be jumping for joy. I picked the pregnancy test up from the table where it had been left and smiled to myself before placing it back down.
Me and El would probably have to make a visit to my nans soon. She always wanted to be the first one to know about any news.
I walked into the hallway where Eleanor was calling her mum on the house phone and waited until she was finished. After about five minutes she turned around and smiled at me, taking my fingers in hers.
"Would you like to come to my grandma Joeys with me tomorrow? To tell her the news? We can go to the doctors after," I asked.
"Sure!" She replied. "But for now I think I'm going to go and have an early night."
"I see," I replied. I pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I'll join you soon."
Before Eleanor walked up the stairs she turned around. "Oh, and my mother said that she's coming down on Monday."
"That's fine," I said smiling. I watched Eleanor walk up the stairs and then went into the kitchen. I pulled open the fridge door and poured myself a glass of orange juice before closing the door again and heading upstairs to the bedroom. I put the drink on my bedside table before getting dress and cuddling in bed with Eleanor.

The next morning I called work to let me have the day off and reminded Eleanor that we were heading out.
"When the child's born, shall we ask Joey to be the godmother?" Eleanor asked as she put on her gloves the next day.
"Of course!" I said. Maybe then she'd have something about the pregnancy to look forward to.
"Great! And I was thinking my father for godfather..." Eleanor said.
"That's fine by me."
"And whilst we're in town we could pick up some stuff for the baby. Gender neutral of course."
"Yes, that'd be a good idea," I replied. I shrugged on my jacket and opened the door for me and Eleanor. Once we got to the path in front of my house I pulled out my car keys and unlocked the door to my silver car. I helped Eleanor get in and then made my way to the drivers seat.
"Do you think it'll be a girl or a boy?" Eleanor asked once I'd started driving down the long road.
"Probably a girl... although I'd love it to be a boy," I replied.
"I think the opposite."
"You want a girl?" I asked.
"Mhmm," Eleanor replied, smiling at the view from the window. We were about five minutes away from town, and although it was quite chilly the sun was actually out and shining down on Doncaster.
I drove the car around a couple of corners and slowed at a few traffic lights before driving through the city and into the town. I saw that Eleanor's eyes were following all of the shops along the streets.
"Do you know any stores that sell baby stuff?" I asked her as I turned into the main part of town.
"There's a cute shop that I passed the other day... we could check it out?"
"Sure," I replied. I followed the directions she then started giving me and drove to a shop near where McDonalds was and pulled up the car to the side of the road. I took out my keys and walked around to the over side of the car to the passenger seat to help Eleanor into the shop.
The first thing I saw when we entered was the colour blue. The whole place had baby blue walls and dark blue floors with yellow and pink flowers dotted everywhere. It was sickly sweet.
I followed Eleanor around the place and nodded to half of the clothes she was holding up before we took them back to the counter to give the woman there my card to pay for them. She handed Eleanor the bag with a smile and said goodbye to us.
We walked back out of the store and I helped Eleanor back into the car with the bags and then got back in myself. I drove to my nans with Eleanor gushing about all the girl clothes in the store.
I parked my car outside my grandmas house and knocked on the door. After about five minutes she answered with a small smile on her face.
"Hello Louis," she said.
"Morning nan," I replied, leaning forward to kiss her on the cheek. Eleanor smiled at her and we all went into her living room.
"How are you Joey?" Eleanor asked once we were seated.
"I'm good, you?"
"I'm great!" Eleanor replied.
"Would anybody like a drink?" I cut in.
"Water, please," Eleanor said.
"I'll have the same, love," my grandma said. She smiled and I walked through into the kitchen to get out the glasses and pour the water. I took them back in and sat down next to Eleanor.
"So... what've you been doing this week?" I asked Nanna Joey.
"Same old. I'm turning into a couch potato." She chuckled and took a sip of water.
"Well we come bearing great news!"
"More?" She asked.
"Yes," Eleanor replied.
"Well... spit it out," my nan said, looking at me whilst gripping her glass.
"You're going to be a grandmother," I said.
"Oh, woah..." She said. She looked at us shocked.
"And we've decided that you're going to be the godmother too," Eleanor said sweetly.
"Oh. That's very kind of you," my grandma said, at least trying to be nice to Eleanor. She gave me a look that read 'are you absolutely sure?' so I subtly nodded.
She then put a smile on her face and continued the conversation about baby clothes.
