I finished packing up all of my clothes, yes ALL of my clothes, my designer clothes that I adore and wouldn't consider leaving behind. I may have been going back to LA but I wasn't about to go back to school as Rosie Hunter the nerd, I wanted to go back and show all of those asshats that they had only made me stronger. I gazed out at the city skyline and sighed, I was really going to miss my new york life and my friends but I was somewhat excited to go back to school. Despite how miserable I had been and how great my life as a model was now, I sometimes thought that I had missed out on that high school experience although I don't think I missed much. Although I had been homeschooled for the past three years, I had killer friends that I had met through my job and most importantly, I had confidence so I knew that as shitty as life could get in high school, this time I would know how to be above it. Quincy high school would never know what had hit them. My plan was simple, I was going to knock there socks off with my new found charm and style...oh did I mention my killer body? Yeaaahhh.....that was definitely going to work in my favor which may sound conceited but hey, I worked hard for it. All of these things combined and I would hopefully get my piece of mind that my parents thought I need, not to mention a high school degree (once a nerd always a nerd...what can I say?). I was going back better than ever and although I had long forgotten/stopped caring about the tormentors of my past, I was going to get my revenge whether I intended to or not....a supermodel's revenge.
~Later~
I stepped off the plane at LAX and tugged my VS hoodie a little closer to block out the chill of the air conditioning. It was gloriously sunny outside and I knew that I would soon regret my VSX leggings and long sleeved shirt but I would be in the car soon so I shouldered my carry on bag, put on a pair of large sunglasses, and made my way toward a man holding a sign reading ROSIE HUNTER in large letters. My parents had decided it would be best to avoid paparazzi if I didn't arrive as Summer Vanderwall "That's me.." I said giving the man a small smile. "Hello Miss Hunter, I'll be looking after you for the next few hours. Name's Taylor." He said, offering me a professional smile. "Thanks Taylor. It's just Rosie though." Only my family called me that and a few close friends so it would take some getting used to. "As you wish Rosie." He said. Taylor looked to be in his thirties, he was sporting a crew cut and had bright blue eyes and a bodyguard build, although I almost would have pegged him as ex military. I regained my focus when a long train of luggage carts pulled up next to us loaded with bags, thirty to be exacted and I could see Taylor's eyes widen slightly. "Ready when you are T!" I said with a laugh as I started walking towards the door noticing the slight shake of his head and look of bewilderment that crossed Taylor's face when he thought I wasn't looking. This only further amused me and I smiled smugly as I slide into the cool leather interior of the black SUV that Taylor had directed me towards. Funny how after everything he had probably seen a teenage girl could still shock him.
We arrived at my new apartment just as the sun was starting to set. Now by apartment I really meant beautiful house in a quaint neighborhood in West Hollywood. It was was a bit quieter than I was used to having come from New York City, but it was close to my school and walking distance from a lot of cute shops and restaurants, plus my parents would be able to come and stay with me often since I would definitely have the space. Leaving my parents and living alone for a year had been a really hard decision for me because we're all so close, but I was away so much with work that it wouldn't be a huge adjustment. I imagine that this was how it felt for kids who went away to college. My parents still had work in the city so they weren't able to make the move with me but since they both had offices in LA they were going to visit me as often as possible. I honestly didn't mind living on my own though, I was a pretty independent person anyway and we were all so busy that while I loved spending time with them and we always made the most of it, I was used to being apart from my parents. Taylor helped me bring all of my bags in, he said that he could manage on his own but I felt bad that there were so many, and then he showed me the ropes (security code, how to work the tv ect.), informed me that he would be driving me around until I got my car and then left me to it. Standing in the foyer, I looked around at my new home. It was beautiful! It had a sleek wooden staircase in the entrance leading up to a master bedroom and two additional bedrooms and a bathroom. Off to the left there was a door leading to a laundry room, another bathroom, an office, and a two car garage. A short wide hallway led to the modern open floor plan with a spacious living area and a state of the art kitchen. I thought I was in awe until I looked up and saw the floor to ceiling windows with double doors leading to a decent sized backyard, patio, and pool. I was in heaven! I walked up to my room, the master bedroom, and looked around ecstatic. Mom had arranged everything just the way I wanted and I hadn't even needed to tell her. On the right wall there was a huge king size bed, fit for a princess, with a cream down comforter and gray and mauve accent pillows and headboard. There was a bookshelf on one wall with all of my favorite books, a flat screen tv, cream curtains framing the wall of windows/ balcony that overlooked the backyard, and a door leading to master bath, but the best part absolutely made me squeal with joy. I hit a little button on the remote that controlled everything in the room and hundreds of glowing fairy lights covered the ceiling! I adored fairy lights and they perfectly complimented the dim glowy lighting of the rest of the house. I was was so happy that I twirled around, landing on my bed and decided to FaceTime mom and thank her! I dialed her name and waited.....*ring*.....*ring......*ri-"Hi Sweetie!" Mom waved at me excitedly through the phone. "Hi mom! OMG my room is perfect! I love the lights and everything! Thank you thank you THANK YOU!" I squealed making her laugh. "Aw! I'm happy that you love it hunny! Tonya and I worked so hard to make sure that you would be comfortable! I hate the thought of you out there all by yourself....we miss you!" She sighed looking tearful. "Aww! Mom I miss you too! But don't worry! You'll be out here to visit soon! I have plenty of room so you and dad can come and stay! And I'll make sure all of the party remnants are cleaned up well before you get here." I joked. "Hahaha. Remember we're letting you live unsupervised because We. Trust. You. So be good! Otherwise we might have to comeback out there and I don't know if I can take the heat in my new fur coat line!" I laughed. I knew mom loved New York but I knew she wouldn't need an excuse to move here and be with me. It was there idea for me to do this anyway but I convinced them that I should do it alone so they wouldn't have to uproot there whole lives for just a year since I planned to move back after I graduated. "Ok ok! No parties....major ones anyway! Kidding! Hey is dad around?" "Yes! He is! He got off of work early today! Bobby! Bob hun come in here please!" Just then I see my dad walk in from the kitchen with a bowl of ice cream towards my mom on the couch. My heart swells seeing them both together. I know it's hard on them not getting to be together all of the time with their busy schedules, but they made the most of what time they did have. You could tell how much they really loved each other and would do anything to make their marriage work. "What is it Madz?" He then notices me on the screen. "Heyy kiddo! What's happening?! We miss you here already!" I smile. "I miss you too dad! I just got here! The house is amazing!" He smiles with a hint of pride. "Well it better be! That was one of my favorite designs! I was just tell ing your mother earlier that that house is one of my favorite places that my firm built in West Hollywood!" I chuckle at his enthusiasm. Dad is always my number one fan and he's always super excited about everything. "Well I love it! And I can't wait for you both to come and visit!" Dad smiles and I see mom trying to steal some of his ice cream when she thinks he's not paying attention. "Maddison! I can literally see you in the camera! I asked if you wanted any and you told me no!" Dad says yanking the bowl away and shaking the computer. "I just want a bite!" "No! You do this every time and then you eat the whole thing!" My parents forget I'm there as they bicker back and forth which is slowly becoming more heated. I shake my head and sigh. Sometimes the are like teenagers! "Ok....well I'm gonna go now! Love you bye!" I wave and blow them a kiss and they pause there argument briefly to say goodbye then the screen goes black. I grin and get up to start unpacking. Maddison and Bob Hunter...couple of the year.
