I woke up very disoriented. It was pitch black and I leaned over and hit the switch on my side table that made the black out curtains on my window rise and sun light blinded me. I retreated under the covers until it seemed safe to come out and adjust and I looked around realizing I was in my room in LA. I sighed and stretched looking at my phone. Holy crap! I had slept until 11:00! I had set an alarm for 8 which was generous considering it would have been 11 in New York, I hated sleeping through an alarm. I groaned throwing of the covers and getting out of bed. I had slept awful, tossing and turning all night as I usually did when I was in a new place for the first time. You would think that after all of the traveling I did I would be used to it by now but I wasn't, and time differences always made it worse. Hopefully tonight would be better. I made my way to the bathroom wiping the sleep out of my eyes, did my business, and then made my way down to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water. One of the tricks I had learned about staying healthy was to start every day with a large glass of lemon water. It helped to boost your metabolism and it also really refreshing. Feeling fully awake now I returned to my room and checked my messages. I had one from my mom and dad telling me to have a good day, a message from Kelly about a shoot in Peru in a few months, a couple from my friends in New York wishing me luck in LA and some random work emails. Nothing seemed pressing so I went and changed into a hooded light grey running hoodie and some black tights then grabbed my sneakers and put on a pair of sunglasses. I opted for skipping the gym this morning and just going for a light run to get more familiar with my new neighborhood. Later I would need to go shopping and see a bit of West Hollywood but that could wait. It was beautiful and warm outside as I started to jog and I took out my head phones for awhile just to listen to the birds in the trees. My neighborhood was quiet and tranquil and I was kind of enjoying the break from all of the noise and bustle of NYC.
I rounded the last corner and walked up my driveway to my house. I had only done about 7 miles but I was going the gym later so it wasn't a big deal. That may seem like a lot to some people but unfortunately I was not one of those people with a natural model body and seven gym sessions a week was definitely necessary to keep my figure. I didn't really mind though, over the years I had truly fallen in love with fitness and I enjoyed treating my body right and pushing it to the limit. For me it was almost fun....almost. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed some water and opened the fridge and realized that I had no food. This would 10000% not do! Despite needing to watch what I ate, I was not one of those girls who didn't eat at all. I felt my stomach grumble and ran upstairs to get ready so I could go and grab breakfast. I quickly showered and walked into my closet. I put on a white lace Victoria's Secret thong and opted for no bra as I pulled out a free people light pink spaghetti strap romper. I paired it with a vintage Ralph Lauren denim and cotton button down that I wore as a jacket then added a braided brown belt from Guess with a pair of Armani sunglasses. Finally I slipped on my beat up pink keds and took a look in the mirror. Satisfied, I moved on to hair and make up. I pulled the front pieces of my hair back into a clip and lightly curled the ends and then I curled my eye lashes and added a few coats of mascara along with some highlighter and pink lipgloss, simple. I grabbed my brown leather studded bag and threw my phone, wallet, keys, and book in and headed out. I tilted my face up to the sun and took a deep breath then started walking towards the smoothie place I had visited last night. In the daylight and my not post-workout-death state I saw that it was called frais et propre which my limited french told me that the cute cafe was called fresh and clean. I pulled open the door and the smell of fresh fruit and healthy baked goods consumed me. There was a long line since it was lunch time but it gave me time to study the menu. I decided on a turkey bacon wrap and a green juice with a paleo banana muffin and I was scrolling through Twitter as I shuffled in the line. "Hi welcome to frais what can I-oh it's you again!" My head snapped up and crystal blue eyes that locked with my own turquoise ones. The cute boy who rang me up last night was standing in-front of me with a small smile on his face. "Hello again!" I said giving a dazzling smile. He paused and returned the smile making me melt a little. "So uh, what can I get you?" "Um can I get a turkey bacon wrap, a green juice, and a paleo banana muffin?" He put my order into the computer. "That will be 14.95" I hand him the money and wait for my receipt. "Hope you're hungry, the turkey wrap is big." I grin and a laugh escapes my mouth. "Don't worry, I have a big appetite." He quickly looks me up and down, checking me out. "You could never tell..." he adds almost to himself. He clears his throat and rubs the back of his neck which gives me the opportunity to check out his impressive arm muscles. God he's gorgeous! He looks up at me an I blush a little. "I should go...don't want to hold up the line." I say even though its the last thing I want to do. "Oh uh yeah....hey I'm Josh by the way." I smile brightly at this as I walk over to get my food "Rosie." He gives me one last look and returns to the line of customers. Damn! He is dreamy...
Heaven. This is the only way to describe the food that I am currently devouring. Maybe food just tastes better when you're hungry but frais was now my new favorite place to eat. The fact that their cashier looked like a whole snack didn't hurt them either. I was just finishing up when Taylor texted to tell me he was outside. He was taking me to target, trader joe's, and then to The Grove so that I could make sure I had everything I needed for the week. I gave one last glance at Josh who of course chose that moment to look up and I lock eyes with me. I gave him a small smile and walked out the door. God it was like every time I saw him my confidence flew out the window and I became this blushy, butterflies in the stomach girl. I didn't date very often because I was so busy and a lot of the men that worked in the industry with me were gay but I was always completely confident anytime I did talk to guys... This was just weird. Taylor open the door for me and I hopped into the SUV. So non-conspicuous. And leaned back against the seat with a huff. "Anything wrong Rosie?" Taylor asked, glancing at me through the rear view mirror. I forced a smile that I'm sure appeared strained. "Silly stuff. Nothing that would interest you I'm sure." He shrugged and pulled out into traffic. "I have a daughter about your age...probably a bit older. Try me." Huh...I wouldn't have pegged him as a father at first but it suits him. "Well....have you ever been like completely comfortable doing something for like most of your life and you think you're good and in control and then all of the sudden, out of nowhere something or someone can just come along and mess it all up??" I looked out the window through my sunglasses and leaned my temple against the cool glass. Taylor was wearing a knowing smirk and he nodded. "So what's his name?" "Who's name?" I replied, playing dumb. Taylor rolled his eyes. "The boy who just dropped out of nowhere and changed your whole perspective on boys and love." I stared at him open mouthed. "How did you guess?" Taylor smiled wistfully. "It happens to the best of us..." "Who was it for you ?" I ask, genuinely curious. "My wife... God I thought I was such a ladies man until I met her. She had me blown away and knocked on my ass at every turn. Everything I thought I knew about talking to girls went out the window with her. I was a blabbering butterfly mess....and I loved every god damned minute of it. Still do." He said and he smiled at me. "But I don't even know this kid. How can he change my perspective when I don't even know what it is?" He smiled at me in the mirror and shook his head. "Thats life. Sometimes feelings come to you in the most unexpected way. Something can change you forever and maybe you only saw it for a minute. Either way it changed you and you will always remember that different feeling and you'll look for it everywhere you go with everyone you meet. That spark you know?" I looked out the window again and we were quiet for awhile until Taylor informed me that we were at target and opened the door for me. "Josh.....his name is Josh by the way." Taylor nodded and smiled. "I'll be back at four Miss Rosie."
I walked into target and grabbed a cart. I made my way to the house supplies and grabbed some paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. My mom had already stocked the kitchen with pots and and pans and a coffee maker. I grabbed some Donut Shop K-cups which was with out a doubt my favorite coffee to make at home. I wasn't a huge coffee drinker but In my line of work, sometimes you needed a little pick me up. I checked the time which read 3:30 and made my way to the front desk. While I was on my way I passed the clothing section where a cute black flat rimmed hat caught me eye. Now I may have owned a lot of designer clothes but I was no clothing snob. Cute clothes were cute clothes and I was loving this hat. I took one and put it in the cart and went to the checkout. A young nerdy looking teen was working the register that I chose and he stared at me, mouth agape, as I placed my items on the conveyer belt. I tried not to role my eyes and I gave him a tight smile. His name tag read Roger and he looked away as soon as I made eye contact with him. "Hi Roger." I said politely. "H-hi" he responded while scanning my items. I got this reaction a lot, most guys that weren't your typical overly confident "hot guys" tended to be really nervous around me. I never understood this, it was just another pretty face and I had once looked and acted just like them. I was only human. "Th-that'll be $26.37" Roger muffled, recapturing my attention. I swiped my card, grabbed my bags, and grinned at him. "Thanks Rog! Have an awesome day." I said and I walked out of the store. I still had ten minutes until four so I stopped in starbucks to grab Taylor and myself a coffee. I wasn't sure of what he liked but for some reason he seemed like an americano man with two sugars. I ordered that for him and got myself a blended chai tea latte with a chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. Eh....I could work it off later! Taylor pulled up and I hopped in, handing him his coffee. "Trader Joe's please Taylor... I hope you like americanos!"
