That night, Tony let Steve have the bed and he slept on the couch. He assumed that Steve would find it strange, them sleeping together, because he doesn't remember any of their history together. Tony couldn't sleep that night at all so he just kept the TV on low volume and watched. He looked at the time on his phone, 1:45 AM. All he could think about was Steve. 'He always has nightmares when I don't sleep with him. Was he like that now? Was he talking in his sleep? Would he remember everything when he woke up?' Tony couldn't stop thinking about Steve until he couldn't take it anymore. He stood up from the couch and walked out of the living room. He walked until he stopped behind the door of their bedroom. Tony honestly actually wanted to see Steve talking or having a nightmare in his sleep, just to prove that Steve couldn't sleep without him.

Tony pressed his hand on the door which slightly opened it up. He quietly peered inside at looked at Steve. He was upset when he saw him, silently sleeping peacefully. Tony just watched him sleep for a few more seconds before he just walked away.

As he laid down back on the couch, he just thought of all the pain inside him. He kept telling himself that Steve would be alright, but deep down, even he was beginning to think he would never remember. He sat up on the couch again, rubbing his eyes. He slowly stood up and sighed before deciding to get a beer or just something. He quietly walked out of the living room towards the kitchen. When he walked in he couldn't help but smile.

"Steve?" Tony whispered, watching Steve behind the counter. Steve jumped, startled and turned around. He had a beer in his hand. "Oh, hi. Sorry, I was going to ask you for a beer but I didn't want to wake you up and. After all, it is almost two in the morning so.." Steve trailed off. "It's fine." Tony replied walking over, opening the fridge. He grabbed out a beer and opened it before taking a drink. "So why are you up?" Tony said turning on the small kitchen light. "Well," Steve started, "I just couldn't sleep for some reason." Tony couldn't help but hide a smile. "What about you?" Steve asked taking a drink. Tony just looked down and then back at Steve, "I guess my answer is the same as yours."

Steve just nodded and took another drink. They stood for a few seconds through the silence. "So, any luck on remembering anything?" Tony asked looking over. Steve just looked up as if he was thinking before looking back at Tony, "Honestly, no."

Tony just hid the horrible pain again with a small smile, "Oh. Well you will." Tony was beginning to wonder how long he could say that sentence before he completely gave up hope.

Tony and Steve were casually standing in the kitchen when Tony looked over at Steve and put down his beer. "Steve? Are you alright?" he asked looking at Steve. Steve had gone completely pale. The beer suddenly slipped from his hand and shattered on the floor. "Tony? I... I don't feel good." Steve stuttered, covering his head. Tony put an arm around Steve's waist trying to keep him up but he was heavier in muscle than he looked. Steve fell to the ground and blood started trickling from his nose. "Ah." Steve groaned through the excruciating pain. Steve reached up his hand and rested it on Tony's shoulder. Tony was bending down on his knees trying to figure out what to do, looking Steve up and down. "Oh God, oh God. Okay okay. Everything will be fine! Hold on. Hold on!" Tony said stumbling through to the phone. He grabbed it and dialed 911.

When they answered, Tony told them everything and they said they would be there in a few minutes. He dropped the phone and ran back to Steve. "Tony." Steve said with a hoarse voice. "I'm here, I'm here!" Tony replied holding onto Steve. "Okay, what hurts?" Tony said trying to be the best of help he could. "My.. my head." Steve replied yelling through the pain. "Umm." Tony was trying his best.

Steve suddenly just stopped. "Steve?" Tony said lifting up Steve's chin. He felt his heartbeat- still beating. He must've passed out or something.

"Mr. Stark?" there were voices in his house. The paramedics where there. "Here! Here!" Tony shouted. The people came running in and started to lift up Steve. There was a group of people putting him on the stretcher and hooking him up to an oxygen mask and taking him out. Tony didn't know what to think. A woman walked up to him and wrapped a shock blanket around him. "Sir, he will be alright." the woman said. Tony just stared at the body that was being pulled into the ambulance. "Come with me. We'll take you with him." she added and Tony followed her outside.

Before the ambulance door closed, the woman halted them and hauled Tony in. Throughout the whole moment, Tony was dead silent, confused with shock of what happened. The ambulance blared through the streets causing a commotion. When they arrived at the hospital, everyone hustled quickly getting Steve into the building.

Tony had the lady lead him inside when everything was set up. He walked in and saw Steve laying there like he was a week ago. Everything was the same except for the fact that they were in a public hospital this time, not a Shield hospital. He just watched Steve, wondering what had happened.

The door to the room suddenly swung open and Pepper ran in. "Tony. What happened?" she said, out of breath. Tony just moved out of the way so she could see Steve. He looked even worse from before, as if he were slowly dying. "Oh. I'm so sorry." she said seeing Tony's red eyes. She walked over and gave Tony a hug. "This is all my fault." she said letting go. Tony was confused and looked at her. "What?"

"I was the one who let Nigel into your office and look around in the first place. He always had a way with words. I can't believe this. I hope, wherever he is, he's in pain." Pepper said with slight tears rolling down her cheeks. Tony just looked at Pepper, "I shot him. Five times. I killed him." Pepper suddenly looked up and gave him a look as if she was disappointed but simply replied, "Good."

Tony stayed in that room next to Steve all night, not sleeping at all. He needed Bruce Banner to evaluate if there was a cure. The doctors in the public hospital were good, but Tony only liked Banner to operate or evaluate because he was smarter than anyone he knew.

Tony just sat there thinking,

'Steven is going to die."
