Luke picked up his laptop. He opened it. The video of the fantastic Professor started. "Hello, welcome to the world of Pokémon! I am Professor Aspen! Most people call me the Pokémon Professor! I am the regional professor for Eastern Sinnoh. I study the relationships of Pokémon and the weather. I know, it sounds boring and beige, but I do study in other branches. Enough about me, please fill this application on your computer now!" the video played.
Luke filled it out. It was quite detailed, requiring age, name, gender, medical history, parents' medical history, and legal stuff. Luke closed the laptop and put in on his desk. He then sat on his bed and turned on the television. Re-runs of Pokémon Talk played.
Luke's phone vibrated. "Who in Arceus' name is calling me?" Luke whispered. He picked it up, "Hello," he said.
A mysterious voice answered, "Is this Luke Diamond?"
"The one and only," Luke commented.
"We need you to be at Professor Aspen's laboratory at 8:00 A.M. sharp tomorrow morning. Please and thank you," the voice replied.
The next day, 6:00 A.M.
His mother knew where he was going. He walked into his room and put his shoes on. They were hiking boots. He walked to the bottom step. His mother walked up to him. She was carrying a backpack. "There's a town map in here. There's also food, tinderbox, a flashlight, and your bike. I'll walk you out," she said.
"It's truly a mother's love that keeps us going. We don't recognize it for what it is," Luke commented.
She smiled. Kelly Diamond had taught him very well. "I love you," She commented.
"I love you too," he replied and hugged her so tight that he didn't want to let go.
Luke walked outside, pulled out his bike, and headed west.
