The moment we reach Crowd Forest, Tina and Liam stare at me and I look down nervously.
"Yep. This is definetly illegal," Liam says staring at a pile of crap beside us. We both laugh, but Tina turns and almost pukes. I start to look at him...and he looks into my eyes for a while. Once I try to say something, Tina turns back around and interrupts, " We need to get...away from here." She points to the poop and walks a different direction. We follow along. I'm uncontrollably blushing.
As we walk around the forest, I hear something. "Wait...do you guys here that?!?" We're all silent for a moment, then we hear footsteps getting louder and louder. When. I look to my left and my right, nothing was there. So I continue to walk around the trees and leaves and dirt.
"Hey." I say to Liam
"Hi..." Liam responds and grins.
" Why are you sitting alone?"
"I'm just...thinking." He turns to smile at me.
"Do you...like me?"
"Ummm...." His smile fades away, and he looks me straight in the eyes. The expression on his face I couldn't understand. "I'm gay, Anne." He broke my heart into thousands of pieces. I couldn't believe it. I should've known, I thought, but how could I have known? There were no clues, no hints. Nothing. I wonder if Tina even knew, or if she kept it a secret. She'd kill me if she knew that I had a crush on her brother.
The next few hours are spent eating breakfast and building shelter. The rest of the day seems awkward and quiet and I stay in the shelter most of the time, gathering my thoughts. Maybe liking Liam wasn't so bad after all...
