Chelsey's truck came rolling into her drive way. Sand, rocks, and dirt was kicked up by her bulky tires. Tom walked up behind it and yelled in his deep voice, "Yo, Chells! What's up? How was church?"
"Hey, Tom. It was cool. How was... um... what - ever - it is your... um... doing over there?" She gave a laugh snort giggle type of thing.
He smiled and responded, "Oh. Good. I'm just working on my car." He showed his pearly white teeth. "Wanna help? I've seen you help your daddy sand stuff."
She shoved one hand in her jean pocket, "Sure. I just have to go feed my pets real quick." She pointed to the two barking dogs poking their heads out from behind the curtains. "Mind if they come?"
"Nah, it's cool." Tom walked across her farm ground.
Chelsey stepped onto her creeking floors with two yappers attacking her leg.
After feeding them she opened the door and said, "Run free, my puppers. We are going to Tom's to work on a car. Let's go."
As her and the dogs arrived he handed her a sander and showed her how to do it. "First, we turn it on. Next , we go like this, then this, and this, and eventually, it looks like this." With weird hand movements he dashed around laughing.
"You are really bad at explaining things." She laughed, also.
Chelsey started to sand the side of his
mustang, which he had been working on for weeks, now. All of the fun came to an end when her phone rang. She grabbed it, flipped up the top, and answered it, "Hello, dad?"
All Tom could hear was, "Bah bah bah."
"I'll be home in a little bit. Bye." She spoke into the phone.
Tom asked, "Chells, what was that about?"
She looked concerned, "Sparks... h-he  apparently ran home while we weren't paying attention. He got hurt."  A single tear ran down her cheek.
Giggles snuggled up to her knee. She pet her. Her eyes looked as if they were asking where Sparks was. "I gotta go."
"Can I come with? You know, for support or something." Tom awkwardly said.
  "That'd be nice." Chelsey smiled.
Tom, Chelsey, and Giggles walked home at a fast pace. Worried, scared, and simply sad.
