The nurse shivered. She looked terrified and didn't want to tell the truth. It was like she knew it would hurt them, very much. One nurse walked up to them. She looked as if she didn't care at all. "The dog nearly died."
Jaws dropped. Stunned, they started discussing if they were gonna do it or not.
"Let's make a pros and cons list." Mr. Lopps sugested. "Do you have, perhaps, a price of paper and a pen?"
The lady handed them what they wanted and nodded.
"Pro?" He asked.
"Our dog is saved. Yay we are happy." Chelsey said in an unhappy tone.
Tom butted in, "True. The con? Death. Sadness." Chelsey pulled out her hand and struck it across the side of his face.
"Ow!" Tom touched his face and looked in the mirror on the wall, "You left a mark! What did you do that for?"
She scowled, "Don't speak like that!"
He stepped back, "Okay. Maybe just a... pro list?"
"That's more like it." She smiled.
He stared at her, "Are you satisfied?" His deep voice spoke in sarcasm.
She pulled him closer into a warm hugg, "I'm sorry." He rolled his eyes. She glared at him.
They all looked at one another. They nodded their heads and agreed. The family turned around towards the nurses. Their eyes spoke as much as they could speak. "Can we see him first?" Mr. Lopps asked. She lead them to him. Chelsey whispered in her ear, "It'll be all right."
She reached out for the other's hands, "Lord, thank you for this oportunity. We hope it goes well. Please be with Sparks." They left and said their goodbyes.
