Tom and Chelsey walked into the room to see Sparks when he started gagging. Gagging to what seemed like caughing. Caughing to sneezing. Then, sneezing to puking. "Oh my God! Are you alright?" Tom yelled.
He got a deathly glare from Chelsey, "Excuse me? We do not use the Lord's name in vain!"
Tom looked frightened, "Your right, sorry. Gosh. Oh my gosh!"
"We need to call my dad. Please hand me my phone!" Tom handed it to her.
Sparks managed to speak, "Bark! Bark!" Other than that, he was to busy sneezing, caughing, gagging, and puking.
"Dad! Sparks is sick. Come home!" Chelsey yelled in terror.
"Honey, I can't right now. Take the truck to the vet and keep me updated. Y'all will be fine! Hurry!" Mr. Lopps worried.
Chelsey looked at Tom, "Help me get him into the truck!"
"Okay, Chells." Tom agreed.
They picked him up and very carefully set him in the middle seat of her truck. Tom hopped in, and Chelsey jumped into the driver seat. She hit the road very hard.
They arrived and ran the dog inside. "Oh my goodness!" Screeched one of the nurses. "Let's get him in the bed!" Screamed another nurse. They took control and assured them, "We got it from here."
One nurse stayed with them for comfort. "Are you two bro-"
"We aren't related!" Chelsey freaked.
The nurse looked astonished. "Ok."
Chelsey was shocked she had done that, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said it like that."
The nurse beamed, "It is fine. I'm guessing you get that almost five times a day." Then she laughed.
The clock ticked and ticked and ticked. One hour later, they were still waiting to see Sparks.
"So, how is the car coming?" Cgelsey asked.
"It is coming along quicker than I thought." Tom responded.
Creek. The front door opened slowly. It was Mr. Lopps. He looked concerned. Just as he was about to speak the work door opened. A young looking nurse came out with a clipboard. "It took a while. Sorry about that, but we know what is wrong. He has some sort of disease. It is weird. It causes sneezing, caughing, gagging, and puking, because it has something to do with almost everything the throat and up, with a dog. To humans it is disguised as the flu, but not with dogs. It causes them all to happen at once with dogs. Called Matina. There is no cure, as far as we know. I'm sorry. The estimation is about one month until, um... death."
Chelsey was in awe, "Oh my God." She whispered.
"What'd you just say?" Tom asked.
"You heard me." She stood up. "Can I see him."
The nurse smiled, "Yes." She led them to him, "Let's look on the bright side, his leg is completely healed."
"Serisouly?" Tom had a stunned experssion.
Chelsey got onto her knees and started to pray. Nobody could hear her, but they knew it was coming from concern, worry, and fright. Most important of all, love.
They put the dog in her dad's car and drove home to spend time with Sparks. As much time as they could have. Giggles wasn't herself; she wasn't jealous. She could tell something was wrong.
