Well, that sucked. Getting beaten up by the trio of bullies, not on my list of things to do in the morning, but whatever. It happened and it's over now so I'm fine. I walk through the halls of my high school with my head dropped down so that no one can see my black eye. I make it to my locker and I look up while trying to cover my face with my hair so I can open my locker without anyone seeing my black eye.

I manage to open it without anyone noticing me and I grab my stuff for my first period, History. I close my locker and shuffle along with the crowd of zombies to my next class. I make it to the door, but then I lamely run into my History teacher, Mr. Higgins. He throws me a glare and mutters "stupid girl" under his breath, even though I can hear him.

I ignore it and walk in to take my seat. Once I am seated, Mr. Higgins walks back in and the bell rings. He quickly shuts the door so he can give any stragglers a detention slip. He turns towards the door and writes the words 'Adolf Hitler' on the board. Well, just great.

Now I am going to be embarrassed in front of the whole class because of my geeky smarts about this evil and cruel Natzi. He turns back around and smiles at the unpleasant and unenthusiastic faces that everyone is giving off. Except for me. His gaze stops on me and he smiles with an evil glint in his eye.

"Can someone please tell me the year in which Hitler's uprising began? Anyone? How about... Leah." He smiles at me and something in his eyes communicates with me in my head, daring me to say the answer that only him and me know. I glare at him coldly and open my mouth.

"1939." I say calmly. If that is all he can bring to the table, then he would have to bring it. "And, Mr. Higgins, can you tell me the the name of the book that he wrote in prison before his uprising?" I say, choosing my words and tone of voice carefully.

This time, it was me challenging him to speak. The only set back for him is he doesn't know the answer. His mouth opens and closes like a fish out of water, and I just can't help but mock him.

"What's that, Mr. Higgins? I can't hear you over the boring that is just wafting out of your pores." The class erupts into laughter. There is a small glint of embarrassment in his eyes, but it soon turns to anger and he yells at me as if I just busted his window to his car. "You get your smart little ass to the office or so help me, child!!!" I pretended to act relieved.

"Oh, thank god. At least I'll be somewhere that doesn't include listening to your boring and useless lecture" I say with a smile. Then, I get up and walk out of the classroom. I hear him shouting names and threats at me, but I try my best to deflect it all. I keep walking towards the office and I know that today won't be a good day.

*Later that day*

I walk home, or try to, when the trio of bullies pop up out of nowhere. They are down the street from me and they have already seen me, so there's no use in running a marathon. There are people walking around everywhere because school has just been dismissed, so they can't just come up to me and start hurting me.

I walk behind a group or people so the terrible trio won't be able to beat me up. But they do walk right behind me. I can feel their breath down my back and the anger radiating from their bodies. The people in front of me suddenly part and I know that I am screwed.

I try to walk faster, but Julian just grabs me by the collar of my sweater and pulls me into an ally. He pushes me up against a wall and surround me. "So," says Julian who is looking at me like he is the predator and I am the prey. "I heard about your little... feud with Mr. Higgins. Is it true that you actually stood up to him?"

He asks, mockingly. I don't say anything because I know that he'll just use it against me. "Not talking, eh? Well, at least tell me this. Do you talk back to him and not me because you're scared of me, or because you know that I'll beat you up even worse?"

Then, the punching started. The first one was delivered to my stomach, and then my side. A hand came down hard and smacked my face and then they kicked me to the ground. A rubber foot was delivered right into my rib cage, and I could feel the crack that it made as his foot hit me.

A few more blows to the stomach and head, and then they started to laugh and Julian said "You're such a waste of time and space, you know that?!" And then they left. I felt myself slowly slipping under, but then I saw two glowing turquoise eyes. I blinked and they were gone. Then I realised that my body didn't feel so broken.

I got up slowly to make sure that it wasn't just a false alarm and I was about to collapse into a heap on the ground, but I didn't. My body felt perfectly fine, almost as if I had been swimming in a warm hot tub with special herbs and spices to caress my body. I walked home and immediately went to my room, out of impulse. I sat down on my bed and thought about what had happened today.

I had attempted to out run the trio of pain, but that caught me and hurt me badly. Then, I got yelled at by my History teacher because I was being a smart ass. He had called me several names that people probably thought and knew I was.

And then, I got beat up again by Julian and his gang. I thought about the names I had been called. They swirled in my head like a merry-go-round playing an endless and annoying tune that wouldn't stop until you released or stopped it.

I grab my blade and I could care less as to weather I hit the vein this time or not. I drew the blade right across the thin and delicate skin on my wrist and the sharp pain sizzled into a feeling of release.

I repeated it multiple times until there was blood literally pouring from my wrist. I couldn't stop. The blade just felt so good and so right on my skin. Suddenly, there's a whisper of a voice coming from behind me. "No!" It said, but I ignored it.

And then I fell I to a pit of darkness. A never ending lake where I was to drown in. But then, I saw the same turquoise eyes as earlier. They floated I front of me and glowed like a beacon to the lost boat. I tried to reach out, but then the darkness really did consume me and I fell unconscious.
