Yukine sighed and crossed his arms as Yato carried him to the shrine. "Is this really necessary? I have legs you know." He complained. Yato nodded and smiled. "I know. Can't I carry you without you complaining?" He asked as he skipped over a rock. "No, you can't." Yato smiled and gently pat Yukine's head. "Well, too bad."
Yato watched as the sun went down and Yukine's head laid gently on his chest, the small blonde slowly falling asleep. Yato smiled as Yukine's soft breaths came in unison with his own. Yato approached the shrine and gently laid Yukine on the soft, green grass, soon laying next to the other as well. "Cutest little pain in the ass I've ever seen, I swear." He said before he laid back on the grass and stared at the starry sky. He felt a gently tug in his tracksuit and looked over at the shivering kid next to him. He pulled off his jacket and laid it on Yukine's cold body, his shaking slowly stopping.
Yato smiled as he gently ran his fingers through Yukine's hair, single strands running in between his fingers. Yato looked up at the sky noticing it light up as water droplets began to gently fall. It soon began to rain down hard and the loud crack of thunder shook the ground, causing Yukine to whimper in his sleep. Yato gently picked Yukine up and sat him on his lap under the roof of the shrine. Yukine slowly slipped into Yato's arms as Yato slid down the wall and got in a comfortable position, slowly falling asleep to the sound of the rain and the now gentle rolls of thunder that lightly shook the fragile shrine walls.
Yato woke up to Yukine yelling, "What the hell, let go of me!" Yukine slapped Yato and stood up as Yato raised his arms to his cheeks. "What was that for??" Yato asked as he rubbed the patch of red skin. "Hmm, maybe because your perv self was holding me!" Yukine yelled as he threw Yato his jacket. "I was holding you because you were shaking because of the storm, and because you were having a nightmare! You may forget, but a Regalia and his Master share mind and body, so I know what's going on! I didn't want you to be left in the dark like you always were!" Yato yelled back as he stood above Yukine.
Yukine teared up as he stood up. "I NEVER ASKED YOU TO SAVE ME! I WAS PERFECTLY FINE BY MYSELF!" Yato sighed as he punched the wall of the shrine, a hole the size of his fist being shot out by the force of his punch. "I just tried to help! Why can't I just help you? I care about you too much to let you go through anymore pain than you were already put through! I hate seeing you in pain, do you know how bad it makes me feel to know you're in pain?" Yato said as he balled his fists. "Yukine I love you! You give my life meaning! Without my Regalia I'm nothing, and you're the only Regalia I've ever had that didn't leave me!" Yato said as he fell to his knees. Yukine walked closer to Yato and stared down at him, watching Yato's tears plop on the ground.
Yato tensed up as he brought his face to his knees. Yukine frowned and crossed his arms, looking down on the other. His expression softened a bit as he bent down and put his hand on Yato's back. "Stop crying. I haven't left you because I don't wanna go to anyone else..." Yukine said reluctantly. Yato slowly lifted his head and let out a quiet sniffle.
Yukine stepped back as Yato stood up. "Don't get any ideas now. Just because I don't wanna leave doesn't mean I won't." He teased before gently punching Yato's arm. Yato let a small smile spread across his face as he held out his arms. "Hug?" He asked. Yukine shook his head. "No, me staying is enough. At least for now." He teased once more. Yato pouted, going back to his playful self. "What the hell does that mean?!" He asked as he squinted. "You'll find out another day. Now is too soon~" he said before he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Where are you going?" Yato asked as he followed behind Yukine. "Going for a walk. By MYSELF." Yato jumped at Yukine's emphasis of myself.
"Okay, okay damn! I'll be here waiting. If you need help just think of something and I'll come to you." He said as he sat back down on the small stump in front of the shrine. Yukine swatted at Yato as he walked away. "Stop worrying about me so much, I'm fine. I can fend for myself for once." He said before he was out of Yato's sight.
