Beatrice gave a small grin at her mother and Booth as they walked down the grassy hill that lead to the lake in Arlington National Cemetery. The wind hit her face blowing her curly brown hair in the wind. Glancing around at the many rows of head stones, Beatrice's once small smile sombered up and replaced with a solemn look. With her hands tightly clasped behind her back she followed her mother and the agent towards the crime scene. Hosting her bag more up on her shoulder Brennan glanced over at Booth and raised and eyebrow at him "What's the context of the find?" looking over at her as well Booth kept his face passive and looked towards the swarming of agents and scientist near the water. "Routine landscaping, dropped a load in the local pond, one of the workmen thought he saw something"
With calculating eyes Beatrice scanned the water and the scenery around already looking for clues, trying her best to tune out the two adults conversating. Nearing a Jeffersonian Medico-Legal Lab van the two adults and Beatrice came to a stop, the teenager still ignoring the things around her solely focusing on her thoughts about the investigation. The sound a metal door slamming snapped Beatrice out of her murder haze and caused her to jump, making her bump into the chest of Seeley Booth. His large hands latch onto her shoulders steading her before she could fall over. Looking up at the agent with a sheepish grin on her face Beatrice took a couple of steps forwards while mumbling a short apology.
" Hi Zach." Doctor Brennan said, greeting her intern who was the reason behind the door slam with a smile. "Zach!" Beatrice beamed giving the awkward intern boy a hug, which he returned stiffly. "Hello Bea" Zach said releasing he young girl from his grip, giving her a quick smile he aimed his attention to his mentor. His eyes flickering up and down taking in her appearance Zach gave both girl a sarcastic grin.
"This eco-warrior look works for you two" letting out a small "hah hah" Beatrice made her way to the crime scene egger to start investigating the 'murder' Booth had been telling them about. Leaving the adults behind to chat.
Zoning out Beatrice stared at the lake, eyebrows drawn together making a near straight line. Her small hands rested on her hips in a confident pose. Thoughts swirled around in her mind. As usual her brain working quickly, figuring things out like the whole world was a rubix- cube. Beatrice stepped forwards a bit in the direction of a small metal boat that could hold three. Analysing the equipment with her doe eyes, the young girl let a small smile curl at the edges of her lips, knowing exactly what herself and her mother were here for.
Behind her Booth, Brennan and Zach came to a stop. With her eyes trained on her daughter Temperance mumbled instructions to Zach asking him to collect water samples. Both adults stared at the young Brennan girl who was checking out the equipment on the boat, talking to a near by FBI agent who was explaining what the complicated equipment did to her.
Rubbing his stubbly chin Booth couldn't help but shake his head in disbelief. "How old is she again?" she asked the beautiful lady beside him. "Fifthteen" Temperance said a small smile gracing her pale face.
Looking over at the scientist Booth couldn't help but ask her "and she's okay with seeing a dead body?". Rolling her eyes Brennan turned and face the suit wearing agent with the cocky belt buckle. "She's grown up around them, she's too smart to be scared or disgusted by human bodies" shifting her weight from foot to foot Dr. Brennan added "besides she's too smart for that".
And with that she stalked off towards her daughter who had finished talking to the other agent. Letting out a sigh Booth lets his eyes wandering around his crime scene making sure everything was in order. Once his eyes hit a certain scrawny intern he let out a gruff sound and walked to catch up with Brennan.
"He's got no sense of discretion that kid. Typical Squint" he muttered to both Brennan women once he reached them. Raising an eyebrow Beatrice gestured to her fellow scientist friend. "Who Zach?", nodding Booth took one more glance at him before looking at both the women again. "I don't know what that means." Temperance commented, blunt as ever, looking at her with a mocking look, "When cops get stuck, we bring in people like you. You know? Squints. You know, you squint at things" He squint his eyes and threw his arms up a little. Letting out a choke snort Beatrice couldn't help but be amused by the over dramatic FBI agent.
"Oh, you mean people with very high IQ's and basic reasoning skills" Temperance said over sarcastically, looking chastised Booth looked over at the teenager who looked like she was about to burst with holding in her laughter. "Yeah..."
